a powerful adtro for an upcoming FPS game made with .werkkzeug3 (great light and particle effects) and V2 Synthesizer System (the professional sound is the best part of that 96k! :)

emm... i have to say something but i cant pick right words.
by the way it runs under w2ksp4, tho it was told to run under xp only iirc

keops: the world would be wunderbar! if all game companies use intros as trailers instead of bloated ugly videos :p

Really nice, but I missed way more content :|

Uh. I must've blinked and missed the interesting bit.
that's .... short and... german. :)
added on the 2005-02-09 02:34:00 by gloom gloom
considering this was a 96kb werkzeug 3 intro I was really dissapointed. Will the game use werkzeug/v2 techology or what is the meaning behind this?
added on the 2005-02-09 02:46:27 by ekoli ekoli
for some reason it reminds me of the Hugi intro (only faster) ...

(duh!..)

Maybe because of the cylindrical layers of text. The dynamic objects were really cool though..
added on the 2005-02-09 02:56:43 by Navis Navis
For a commercial intro that one was quite cool. And yes, an intro instead of a 300 MB video kicks ass. :)

This is too short to be a good demoscene production, but it rocks as a game advertisement.

i'm not sure if i get this... is this game 64k, is it using .werkkzeug3... or is this just a promo-thingie in 96k, using wz3?

for the intro itself, the light-streaks in the city-part is interresting, but the rest is really cheesy and mediocre...
added on the 2005-02-09 08:33:57 by kusma kusma
It's just a promo thing - according to Eidos it doesn't have to do anything with the real game (and its engine). Pretty well done, and it helped a certain FR member not to have to die of hunger ;)
rulez added on the 2005-02-09 08:50:13 by scamp scamp
kusma: this is "just a promo-thingie in 96k, using wz3". Project Snowblind is kind of a multiplayer-oriented Deus Ex spin-off.
added on the 2005-02-09 09:01:16 by Zest Zest
It looks ok, i liked the squid. The music has too many sudden pace changes to really get started. And i really don't get how this can be a trailer for a game when it has nothing in common with that game.
added on the 2005-02-09 09:07:00 by a_lee_n a_lee_n
damn this was german (and horribly slow on my radeon9600).

now if someone would tell me what the hell this is all about?;-)
added on the 2005-02-09 09:20:35 by uncle-x uncle-x
a_lee_n: indeed it isn't a trailer, i guess eidos.de wanted to relive the viral marketing that .kkrieger has induced. And the cyperpunk/nanotech thema behind Project Snowblind does fit well a FR-like intro :)

what i don't understand is the german-only restriction, maybe an international version is coming.

and i should stop glöpping :]
added on the 2005-02-09 09:24:25 by Zest Zest
The engine rules, smooth on my radeon 9600 pro. Some great scenes, but i didnt like the overall design of this, too short.
added on the 2005-02-09 09:29:43 by Zplex Zplex
The city was cool, especially the traffic streaks. I also liked the squids. I did not like the negative effect and the overly hectic pace. It's kind of "lets get this over with". Should have had more of the mood of the Snowblind game maybe? Less blue would have been nice.
added on the 2005-02-09 09:39:29 by loaderror loaderror
what the hell. I'll give a thumb anyway. For the engine and the city. :)
rulez added on the 2005-02-09 09:40:43 by loaderror loaderror
what the hell indeed. it's cool enough for a thumb. :)
rulez added on the 2005-02-09 10:10:16 by kusma kusma
learn. this is a scene database, not a database for commercial game intros. and no, only because some farbrausch members earn money with it, it is not worth to add here (there are enough other sceners working at a game company, should we add their works too?). beside that, it is cool done.
added on the 2005-02-09 10:20:43 by Fzool Fzool
lol as if there were many commercial game intros in the wild :p

and speaking about commercial prods i think they have their places on pouet as soon as they are tightly tied with demoscene. See Final Reality :P
added on the 2005-02-09 10:32:45 by Zest Zest
I thought the point of releasing trailers was to show at least a few screenshots or videos from the game engine (unless they are using .werkkzeug3) or tell what the game will be about. This seem to be just saying "our game will be cool!" while providing now much info about it. Anyway, it's quite cool and nice to see and I wish you more chances for doing what you like for money. ;)
added on the 2005-02-09 10:45:43 by KK KK
* "not much info"
added on the 2005-02-09 10:47:21 by KK KK
@zest: pointing to another pouet.net mistake doesnt make the whole thing better. adding final reality is crap too. as adding this afri cola "demo". cant you understand the difference btw. scene and commercial projects? no?
added on the 2005-02-09 10:51:29 by Fzool Fzool
i don't see how getting paid to do a demo degrades it from a scene-production. money rules.
added on the 2005-02-09 10:55:29 by kusma kusma
Well, this is a typical demoscene intro similar to previous intros by farbrausch. I'm curious how gamers will react to that.

rating it purely as an intro and ignoring the politics..
thought the squid thing was nice, but otherwise i found it a bit ugly. serious zoomblur overload. :)
added on the 2005-02-09 11:05:38 by smash smash
its a intro used as teaser nothing more and nothing less.

so ask yourself if youre hot for getting the game now after watching this...

xeNusion: Yes, I want .kkrieger final. ;)
added on the 2005-02-09 11:45:15 by KK KK
like Krzysiek-K said, I don't see the point in this prod as a marketing thing, it doesn't tell anything about the game, unless you're supposed to read through all that text flying around.. there's no screenshots or videos or anything.. and it is made in another engine than the final game should be in, so this isn't much of a techdemo either.

anyway, as for the prod itself, the sound quality was really impressive, but the music had annoyingly many breaks in it, imho. nice looking city and effects, but too short.
rulez added on the 2005-02-09 12:18:50 by fox fox
nice idea to put a game commercial into 96k.. but why the hell release it under the ".theprodukkt" label ??! just to get the attention of all .kkrieger-gamers ??!

cool too short
rulez added on the 2005-02-09 12:44:57 by zeebr zeebr
Nice objects,. And i'd assume the reason for not as much content as other 96ks, is that as a game trailer, you really think button mashing kids are going to want to wait while it pre-calcs? i think not. If they just saw a white bar moving slowely across the screen, they'd just hit esc.

Looks cool, feels... wierd. Sort of a half-baked demo, with no springles or anything. Probably not a good idea to do this kind of teaser for an upcoming game - like many others here, I didn't really feel enlightened in a "wow, I can't wait for that game to come out"-kinda way (more of a "Uh! When will fb start doing cool intros again"-feeling). Thumbs up for looks, thumbs down for bad gut feeling. = pig

nice & fast, but hmm :
1) german
2) tells nothing, and did not make me willing to find out what this game is all about
3) too short
Okay, a few facts:

1. Maybe except for some within Eidos Germany, this is not an official trailer nor advertisement asset whatsoever. International advertisement assets have been around for a while now and I wonder if people actually know about this :)

So let's see what happens.

Sweet, only downside is that it's in german.
rulez added on the 2005-02-18 19:15:04 by Vulture Vulture
it's german because this is a project by eidos germany and meant to be exclusively spread in germany. so there will be no international version with english texts.

there's no actual information on the game itself because it was the express wish of the eidos employees who managed the project (don't ask me why, none of us really understands this :)

about the size, that it's 96k is purely coincidential. the requirement was that it be "small", 96k was the size the exe with final content turned out to be, and no size optimizing of any kind was done anywhere in the project :)

it's released under ".theprodukkt" because uhm, that happens to be our company, and we do that kind of stuff. :)
