Definitely. That's what I call design. No flatshading attempt of the last three years gets even near the originality of this one.

My download was defective, I got this boring jizzblob thing that lasted 10 minutes and had a really bad direct-x bug in the rendering of those machines from stoerfal ost ...

And it wouldn't like, continue, but it was apparently trying to for the first half...

Plus it was like, a gigantic bore.

Kinda like what Goldrausch would be if they spent some time on it. Looks very professional, and synching is good, but it's rather cold and unemotional. Well, I guess the Germans eat this kind of stuff up :). Good for club background video. I don't really care if the music was ripped or not, since it could be easily tracked. :) I'm not sure I want to give a thumbs up yet.. if I do I'll come back for it.

Some fabulous visuals in this one. The tuneless soundtrack, however, is almost unbearably repetetive and simplistic. And for that reason alone I refuse to give it my vote.

maybe the beginning was pretty doll yes.. but it made you almost sleep and then some very wierd stuff gets to the screen and the demo gets fun :-)

to clear it up: einklang is some kind of VJ liveset group and pet is mr.pet/sanity who coded the system they're using for those livesets; anyway, he's planning on releasing more demos again, so stay tuned! I certainly am...

I found the first half more than a little dull, but the rest was more interesting. However, it's still overall too slow moving (in my opinion) and the music is horrible! It almost drove me insane.

This has great design and great code. Don't miss it.

uncomplicated. pertinacious through repetition. just a few elements used, but they are enough thanks to proficient syncs that create the 'drive'. uncompromising product that should've won the compo.

Watched it again because everyone seems to love it.

Yes, it's well done - I had trouble getting over the jizzblob bit (I mean, it's MAINLY jizzblobs, and we've SEEN THEM 8 MILLION TIMES BEFORE!!!!) but they're well done, and sync'd to the music a bit in places.

Then the bit with the robot thing, that's also sync'd well. Yes, this is well done.

I just happen to hate the design elements used.

I will give it that it is a quality production. I reserve the right to dislike it, and hope that others DON'T do more copycat demos like this - unless you take the QUALITY of this production to heart, and not the ELEMENTS.

Far from being the "best demo of 2001" in my opinion.

There was some nice effects in it. But it was the same thing going on again and again. There was like, 4 different scenes ? The music was getting on my nerve too. It looks like it was done with some simple program like Fruity Loops. Maybe if the whole thing was twice shorter than the current one I would enjoy it a bit more. And maybe more different effects ? I must agree though, the timing and camera switching was well done to fit with the (bad) music.

I guess it's not my style of demo. I prefered Elements over this one.

I dont especially like the music style, but I can get over it and imagine myself having some good time at dance floor watching this demo :) So it was not very big surprise to me to learn that einklang.net is a VJ posse.

Syncin and design works very well with the music I like very much the sawing kind of thing (seen also in the screenshot) and the hammers in the end. Somewhere in the between there was a part which was a bit too long maybe.

Sure, in comparison to other tp demos, it's quite cool. But I can only underline what zelkor said: it's FAR from being "the best demo in 2001".

The music is anoying, the visuals much too polished for my taste.

I like this demo very much and have seen it like every other day since TP. Lots of nice effects and moods that make it very different from the rest.

An OK prod, not for me...to much boring synchro and a bit epileptic stuff. few efects repeated round and round...not bad, but no cool........mfx demoz are betta...

despite the hyping by various people here: this is ok but no killer.

Beautiful are the equilizer effect and that stencil-buffer thing. The color scheme and visual design are consistent without dropouts too.

But then: The music is extremely boring german hardhouse and the design isn't THAT good that it could live up to the likes of for example Gerbera or Energia.
A repetetive style is not necessarily bad but has been done much better by the likes of Satori or by Elitegroup in Kasparov.

Kinda reminds me of Saint/Halcyon...

At TP this rocked big time. But now after seeing GANTZ GRAF (God bless Alex Rutterford) it doesn't feel that special anymore. Ok, I know it's unfair to compare something done in realtime to professional music video but there's still lots of things that could be done.

I have just seen their VJ mix on Viva TV and I had to watch the prod again. Somehow too long at the end but everything is clean and deserves a good rating

Not my piece of cake. Repetitive, monotonous, and boring.

Hmmm, i have two things to say:
- i love the demo, the music, the design.
- i love the coloring, the textures, the way 'they made it'
- i can't count no further than two.

I have two major regrets:
- There is no other demo than this one, and the vids on the site are not that good.
- i can't see the textures, the sound file, the models,...

this is probably the best demo i've seen in like two years. incredible music, and the third part still blows my mind.

dyscotopia, they did, they just didn't release it as demos. einklang is a professional vj crew.

ryg - i know they do pro shows, and wish i lived in that part of the world to see them in action.. but clearly they've got some good code that could be tweaked and used for another production. of course, demos probably don't pay as well.. but from the video files i've downloaded, looks like they're still using recycled bits of this, so surely they should release another demo so they have some new source material for their vj shows :)

I had never heard of this one... I watched it on a big screen in Durango, and it blew me away completely! Gave me a good idea of what all those other "techno-trance" demos were trying to do...

you may say the music sucks, because it doesn't match your personal liking - but claiming it was "ordinary", is just wrong, because if it was, we'd have plenty of prods ft. detroitish techno out there and unfortunately, that's not the case.
not everybody likes lagerfeueratmosphäre /w accordion tunes, uknow? ;)

As a demo, it is just boring and almost plain sucks. But the music and technical quality is great, would like to enjoy it as VJ fx in a nightclub...

keith303: perhaps i should have been specific.
Stylistically, i have nothing against the track. Rather, it is a technical element - the handclap sample - which goes a long way to letting it down. In my inner ear (and only my imho), it feels 'just a little bit late' each time.. and I would speculate this is because the bulk of the sampledata does not begin for a few milliseconds from the cue point. So in listening, each beat #3 is portrayed as just a bit late, giving an amatuerish stint on an otherwise ok (and well mastered) track. Were this compensated (perhaps by cueing the sample earlier, or by an offset), then in my ear it would feel much more solid.

When the demo kicks in, the visuals sync is quite good, interesting in fact. And by then, a polyrhythm has kicked in to drown out the phased clap anyway. But by then it comes too late and i'm sick of late beats so i've already hit esc. Hence the thumbdown. so forgive my metronomic brain or offset ear, but thats how i perceive it.

the delayed claps are of course intentional.
it's a common effect to confuse the listener concerning what's on- and offbeat.
the kickdrum gives final clearance afterall, that the claps are actually onbeat.
i like such little "mindgames" and the artists being responsible for the audio (it's just three mixed vinyls) in this prod sure know what they're doing since they're well known producers of their respective genre.

whatever, i think this is still a pretty joyful trip and by the time it was released, it's been a true killer imo - ripped music or not(!)

Must be the Titan X, runs just fine here on a RTX 2060, Win10 and Ryzen. With dgVoodoo2 it even runs in any resolution you choose.

Anyway, I think I'll finally give it a thumbs up.. nearly 20 years after my first comment. :D
