Great to see an attempt to start something like the Leonard sprite record, but on the CPC. Me and another scener had a similar idea but we were too lazy, so I am happy someone else started. For I have the motivation to work on my own version soon. 20 sprites are not much, I will be back with more for sure =)

I didn't know the CPC (non plus) had sprites...
BTW, since when did you become so nice, Plek?
A demo on CPC, in this time, this is great but I must admit that this one is not my favorite from MTL/Kakos...
Maybe one day we'll see DemoIzArt ? ;)
Go on CPC sceners !

Oh yeah !!

Ramlaid, this is a quite enjoyable demo-part. I am a bit surprised by the 'only 20 displayed sprite', I was thinking it would be possible to display even more. Or perhaps, it is just a problem coming from you, hehehe?:)

Picary -> your attitud is quite stupid. CPC is a 4Mhz computer, of course this is outdated, of course it does not support DVD mpeg video output, but ... oldschool has a spirit you definitively never discovered.

Hey Ramlaid (or any other cool CPC guyz) I have an idea for a new demo concept... you will love, contact me at http://norecess.planet-d.net !

Want more prods like that.
See ya'

zone: garcimore *was*, the guy is dead in 2k (a small bug perhaps). Insignificant & local coming out: i have had an amstrad cpc when i was young(er), just don't repeat it.

Coming back to CPC, No Recess? That would be great!!!

Btw,. when I was first thinking of such a part, I was making calculations for 40, but it was either the sprite of Leonard demos that helped me to make unrolled codes for sprite output a bit faster (the CPC sprite is nicer and the background too. But a bit too dark..), but I think I had forgot a lot. As always, in my ambitious calculations, I was forgetting that I have to erase what was written before and so :).

Now I am making calculations again, I discover that 20 is still hard, I could perhaps hardly make it 23 or 25, but then it's the music and more things I may calculate wrong. Anyways, so perhaps expect a version with a bit more sprites, soon I hope..

ahah :) sorry no coming back, not enough time for that. But while developing my GBA demo (search for Kance / Condense) I did an effect which is REALLY possible and amazing (100% possible on CPC, never done before). No time to write Z80 code, but I can send you the data and the algorythm. Very easy... Contact me : norecess AT devlib-central.org

Make it blue (CPC palette isn't shit at all !), +5 would be 25% more btw ;)
On cpc_fr mailling list, we were told this demo made a record... What record is it ? Number of balls ?

In that case, it is great !! To all who don't understand oldschool spirit, the aim of somes demos is to show a record, not to be especially artistic (example : OVF's splitraster record). Look at : twenty balls on a background... On cpc, it is not so easy as it looks to do it.

About demoIzArt... It is out some months ago ! Go and get it !

Maybe one day i will release my first :/

Hehe,. that was not the real DemoIzArt we are all expecting ;)

Of course it rulez.

This is not the kind of demo screen you make for design or artistic purpose, it's pure "down to the metal" assembly coding, where each single byte of code is writen in order to achieve the maximum performance.

One of the cool side effect of such demo screen is that since it does not require a lot of artwork or design work, nearly any coder can do it and participate fast. It's a good way to remotivate some coders to try it and eventually they will later do real demos :)

Perhaps I will try to do that on the Oric :)

[Yeahh, monochrome sprites without VSynch sucks, I know]

Are you sure Optimus ? I admit that this demo (DemoIzArt) is not as amazing i expected, but i didn't said anything because i don't have yet released my own demo... How could I flame anybody ? :-)

Lol! That demoizart dsk is surely a joke for those who were waiting for a long time and asking constantly about it's progress, since Arkos announced it since 1997 and there is Mortel now working together, two great CPC groups so it can't be so lame (I would suicide if THAT file was DemoIzArt after such a long time of waiting =). I just don't know Targhan's plans today, if there is a new release date soon :/

I don't realize the performance here. But I salute the initiative and tribute.

I don't know the CPC very well, but Thumb Up for the effort. Oh and BTW: Plek, if you don't like oldschool stuff on oldschool machines, could you please just ignore them rather than thumbing them down? Thank you.

someone said fecal colors, and that makes it good in my book. long live crappy old hardware that can still be coaxed into doing good stuff!
