Maybe a suggested emulator for those who want to see the demo, is a good idea.
I tried spectrian but it doesn't work

emuzwin does it for me - dunno if it's 100% accurate for this ( someone else might have a better suggestion ) but i love emuzwin ;)

nice demo too. i wanna see more of that green thing at the end!

Why do people bother making 8bit demos any more?
'Cause it is a passion.
added on the 2004-08-25 23:35:55 by sim sim
emuzwin doesn't make it for me :"(
no, it's not Andy Warhol.

A shame that all gfx are just copied, but the demo's still quite nice.

So what if you're painting masterpieces in so few colours or coding cool effects on such old and limited hardware? Don't you realise that people don't appreciate effort and breaking limits any more.

Now if this demo was a red square pulsating on a black screen running on a high spec PC, then that would deserve a thumb up because that is art.

This is just pointless crap. It takes loads of effort and time, and hardly anyone could match this quality, but it takes no artistic talent so I have to give it a thumb down!!

Fucking lamers!!

Art sux, coderpr0n and 8-bit magic rulz!
rulez added on the 2004-08-26 20:36:53 by cruzer cruzer
Really, really liked this.

And I really can't undestand lamers like ShaneTheWolf thumbing good 8-bit prods down because of the platform.
(forgot the thumb)

Ok, so I got an emulator (two actually realspeccy and that from above). I swiitch to spectrum128k, and open the diskimage. But how the heck do I load the demo now?
added on the 2004-08-29 13:06:37 by Stelthzje Stelthzje
stealthz: emuzwin has a disk browser ( alt+d ? ) that lets you run programs by double-clicking on them. i think you can just boot the disk also... alt+b maybe? not sure and i don't have it handy to check..

It's got the beat and it's got the balls.
rulez added on the 2004-08-29 14:12:24 by Preacher Preacher
evilpaul: Thanks, it works now!

I can not judge wether this demo is better than other speccy demos, because I have seen too few. But I am really starting to wonder how anybody could even get the faintest idea that the spectrum is "better" than the C64. The colors, the graphics mode, the sound... all worse. A marginally faster (if at all, thats a point to argue) CPU does apparently not make up for this.
added on the 2004-08-29 14:40:52 by Stelthzje Stelthzje
stelthz: marginally faster? z80a's clock speed is 3,5mhz... :P
added on the 2004-08-29 15:43:47 by kempy kempy
kempy: A Z80 requires roughly four times the amount of clockcycles to do the same as a 6502.

Nice 3d, but I got bored by the same 4*4 chunky effects, that I didn't enjoyed it really, also because it ends so early..
added on the 2004-09-08 17:42:41 by Optimus Optimus
it's not 4x4 chunks... only 2x2 :)
PhOOze, what do you want? nobody cares about real chunk size, people want more colors.

screenshoots rulez!, but how it's supossed to load a SCL screen image on an emulator? ZXSpin is the coolest and accurated one, but can stand for SCL filetype.
rulez added on the 2006-08-30 00:39:24 by JaK JaK
Jak - there are a few emulators that can use .SCL files... my preference is RealSpectrum. Load up the emulator, F3 and select Pentagon emulation, F6 and select the .SCL file. You'll need to load it from TR-DOS.
Hope that helps.

hitchhikr: sorry for the lame question, I've been soo disconected from emulators scene, that I've not even know that .SCL is a whatever kinda format LOL

Melange 2 is an exercise in cool. It does not say anything in particular because it does not really need to speak. Some say it is empty. To me it is just kinetic. You can complain about laws of physics, but can you ignore them? Thought so.
