Very nice graphics! Everything makes a clean and solid impression and runs smoothly even on my Radeon 7500. Also, the music is pretty cool. Very polished prod.

Good effects, but the demo is designed in such way that it gets very boring...so no thumbs up.
Probably my favorite demo from Asm besides MC's, ranked way too low. The effects are cool and the scenepoetry works extremely well. The scene transition and design are good and I like the simplicity, I'm tired of hundred-layer demos. I don't think it was boring at all.
All in all rather decent, but not really enjoyable due to many filler parts, uninteresting music and unnecessary scene poe-try. A weak thumb up.

Even if it was too long it managed to keep me in the screen till the end. Because of the very clean and nice scenes/shapes and weird (a bit funny for me) lyrics..

The crash in the end has probably something to do with ATI Radeon drivers. We're working on the problem, but so far we've only found one computer in which it happens. If it occurs on your computer, please e-mail me your computer details (version of the display driver, GFX card used, etc) at mnurmika [at] cc.hut.fi.
We'll eventually release a final version, with better sync, a couple of visual/bug fixes and a way to turn off those lyrics for the poetically challenged ;)

A lot of really nice ideas in here. During the party I was a bit bothered by the Yet Anoter Scene Poetry Demo feeling, but for Scene Poetry, it actually made *sense*

Weird, strange and refreshing
a demo i wouldn't like to watch twice.. some nice scenes, but on the other hand, some which should've been cut off (like the one in screenshot :)
When watching this demo, I feel that a lot of work and heart has been put into it. Usually scene poetry is not a big hit for me, but in this case it worked out quite well. Definately should have ranked higher.

I've watched this a lot over the past few weeks, so why I haven't rated it yet I don't know. I think it's great, stylish, and the pace fits the downbeat music perfectly. The screenshot is probably of the worst scene in the demo btw, why'd you use that one? ;)
I didnt enjoy this at asm, cause it was too slow and I was sleepy, but now when I watched again, damn this was good.
This is perhaps one of the prettiest demos i've ever seen .. lots of really nice looking effects, and it deserved a vastly higher rating. Extremely artistic, but then again, the masses generally don't like art (which explains the rating). Assembly was not the place to release something like this. Still, damn impressive, even when Preacher showed me the unfinished version in advance! Damn fine demo.

When I watched this at Assembly 2k4 I knew I had to see this at least once more. Afterwards I regret I didn't vote this demo.

traction is from now on one of my favourite demoscene groups. I watched all your productions one after another and then I realized that every line of code that I'm writing is a standarized product. It's all made from specifications and documentations. I forgot about the scene's main goal... Well I'm happy that this demo got 11'th in the compo. It's not supposed to go into wrong hands - into public and popularity. Keep the good work guys and don't loose your style. You are the tools.

It felt a bit long, but I enjoyed it. The visuals are beautiful, the graphical direction is really solid. But the text is inane and lacks the punch of its witty pretentions. Not a big deal though. The music is more soundtrack than music, and not in a bad way as it punctuates more than overwhelms.
pretty decent. missing a few design polishing on a few effects perhaps. but pretty decent regardless.
The mellow pace suits my weekend mood. Only part I didn't like was the morphing envmapped "oil" sphere, the fractals were really nice though. Obviously a lot of thought went into this demo, the best thing in the demo is the music which really suits it.
I'm sooo happy to see this one between the breakthru performance nominations!

Nice Voice in the Beginning, long but not boring. Nice Particles and morphing objects. Flower part with "Crystal Face" was nice :) I am has again good music. Interesting looking "vector floor scene" dunno how this is real called. And again interesting usage of lines/cubsss/"puzzle effects.

Well, I loved this one. Refreshing as the day as I was born. Fantastic organic models, lines, grids, space and ideas. Well done. 9/10. One of the nicest of 62 demos I went through over the last week.

Loved the burning head, music was bit boring.
I just had to revisit this... when this demo was released at Assembly, it was my favourite from that years competition. And it still is, even edging out Planet Risk, We Cell and Come Clean. Fantastic atmosphere, tight and well designed effects and one of the best soundtracks ever.

This could've benefitted a lot from some better design (empty pure black backgrounds, coder colors) and pacing (most scenes are a bit long and don't very enough by their length so they're hard to distinguish by that regard). I actually like the sgeneboedry, but unfortunately the typography is appalling as well. The music is great, as are most of the visuals at their core. Good individual parts, a lackluster whole.
Wow, in that year since the last demo something must have clicked - this demo is beautiful - even nine years later. Damn soothing, and somehow still pushing.
Soundtrack in this one rules, and a lot of the scenes do as well. I also disagree with the people who find the scenes oo long, I didn't get that feeling - instead it gave me time to think a bit about the poetry that tried to insult me as a visitor of this beautiful piece of art <3

The soundtrack was a funny thing... Grip is now a good friend of mine but back then we didn't know at all, and I got the soundtrack through a mutual friend. Two days before the party we were still missing two scenes IIRC, and I asked Grip if he could perhaps shorten the song a bit, because we didn't have enough content. He refused and we had to quickly come up with something. We shuffled the content around a bit and the oil ball scene and the last one were made in the last two days, in a hurry.
Also, a huge amount of the design itself was done at the partyplace in a ~40h marathon session with very little sleep. We submitted a very incomplete version to meet the deadline and then worked our asses off. I am still surprised how well it turned out, as this is still one of my favorite demos out of the ones that I've done.

unfortunately the source code is lost, as pointed out by preacher.
Actually I discovered a copy of my old archives a few days ago. I'm not sure if I have the engine source anymore, but the demo source is there. If there's someone willing to update this to modern, let me know and I'll hand out the source :) I don't think I'll have the energy or the motivation to make it myself at this point in time.
