The best 4k intro by miles. Should have won, but lame PeeCee sceners don`t allow amiga prods to win.

CD quality music in 4k. Can`t be beaten.....

REALLY nice synth.
boring effects and bad music..

Disqualified because the music was a complete rip from a commercial tune. Jolly good effort to squeeze it into 4k tho.

zplex, you're a lamer, if the rules says one thing then a disqualification due to breaking the rules is ok.

i liked the synth, rest is crap - alas a piggy.
yeah! :-D

couldn't agree more rasmus, music is nice, but the rest is kinda crappy ...

sickest 4k ive seen! But where can i download the original file? I want it.
rulez added on the 2004-08-10 12:48:12 by LHS LHS
I have to thumb up the synth, even if the music is crap and whole idea of the intro is too damn cheesy.

I wonder how humus intros have won previous assemblies if lame assembly peecee organizers only dis amiga and won't let them win :p

Music not to my taste either, but i loved it for the visuals alone and the technical achievment :)

music was great.
the rest was just a pile-up of older humus intro effects, slightly improved. still doesn't make it a winner.
tough luck for the disqualification.
all together a piggy.

Is there a binary somewhere? :P
Ripping sucks, the synth absolutely rules, the effects are boring and "seen-before-in-humuses-one-through-four", not to mention the horrible scenepoetry that sounds like it was written by a lovesick 15-year old. And because ripping sucks, a thumbs down.
sucks added on the 2004-08-10 14:20:14 by Preacher Preacher
great synth! The rest looks like shit because of the garish colours.. It has more of a theme than the other humuses though since it concentrates all on a couple of elements (text and the tunnel).. nice
added on the 2004-08-10 14:31:57 by loaderror loaderror
If you're going to rip music, can't you at least rip anything better than cheesy two-bit penistrance? Bah. The visuals were too repetitive too.. But yes, the synth does sound good.

Indeed, GOOD LORD, please, you Amiga wankers call this progression? This reaks of 7/8 years old old TBL PC stuff. Nice synth, but stick the been-there-done-that effects up your ass and next time, pick some quality trance to cover.

Damn, fools :)

Place the term 'quality' in the right perspective. Besides, there are lots of trance track's I'd prefer over overpretentious crappy amateur scene-music anytime.

Nice synth. The visuals won't be to everyone's liking (borderline codercolors in some places) but I thought they were cool.
rulez added on the 2004-08-10 15:18:30 by parcelshit parcelshit
What is the name of the track it rips? I want to compare.
parapete: i think there was a link to an mp3 somewhere on the fourms
Link to mp3 can be found from http://forum.assembly.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=5046

A quote from Pehu: "Nothing official, but they have sent us an email wondering how it is possible that in Assembly their product was disqualified when in some other major parties his products have not been disqualified while they all contain copyrighted tracks (remakes of other songs). He also kindly provided us a list of those parties he went to compete and productions he submitted containing the copyright violations. It was more like a full confession while truly wondering if he did anything wrong in there."

It's a good 4k tho.

I for one want more free-jazz in 4k intros. ;)

(And if you don't mind, less tunnels and cheesy poe-try too)

Great Synth. So ironic the rip of the music :)
rulez added on the 2004-08-10 17:04:57 by reality3D reality3D
Well there were not much effects inside it (just tunnels and blurry text), but I liked the music and the presentation a lot. I found it really strange that it got disqualified. It's not an MP3 of a song, it's a cover. Covers of commercial songs have been used in a lot of demos and that's not ripping. Except if the asm organizers were just afraid that there would be problems to show that in the big screen with the copyrights, but still, even commercial bands are doing covers of song from other commercial bands, so what?! And I didn't even knew the song before anyways ;P
rulez added on the 2004-08-10 17:07:19 by Optimus Optimus
while wondering how amazingly accurate copy the music is, i almost forgot the intro is a copy of humus 4. which is a copy of humus 3. which is..
sucks added on the 2004-08-10 17:09:45 by Phaser Phaser
nice synth indeed. but it's somewhat misplaced here, as the intro itself is a so-so at best. i wonder if there will be another humus next year.

OK... the synth is really nice. The effects are again recycled from previous humus intros, which is a shame.

I actually really liked the use of bright colours, it think it was done well. But then, i'm a coder, I'm supposed to like coder colours ;-)

Overall gets a thumbs up from me, mostly for the synth and nice design.

Don't you hate it when people thumb down prods cos they hate the platform??

Shane : listen to xeron, that people thumb this down is probably more because of the humus product than it's an amiga product.

How can I make it run WinUAE btw? (The video saved the day for today). I run the file, waits a bit and then returns back to OS. I tried with 68020+FPU or 68040, diferrent memory configs, running from Workbench or plain boot, running settpatch before, what else? I always hate it when I can't run some Amiga demos and I don't know what it is because I don't know jackshit about Amiga :P

OK... seems the code isn't recycled. Its a 3 layer tunnel, the old humus tunnel was 1 layer. The demo uses Warp3D, not aga like previous humus intros, and none of the effects were just recycled... I gave it a thumbs up anyway ;-)

drstranger: Melon have ALWAyS ripped their prod's musics since the amiga days. This was their special touch.

From a demoscene and artistic point of view, this was a SHAME to kill their demo at ASM03. This prod was one of the most brilliant and original demo for years and we all know that.

From a commercial and fair point of view, I can understand that ASM orgas did it.

But don't say they suck because they rip.

I know they suck because it was not fair. But I think that they were simply not aware of the copyright issue because Assembly is far from being these underground demoparties "back in the old days"... And this is where Melon comes from.

@stelthz

QuarkTex provides a Warp3D to OpenGL wrapper for WinUAE, so Warp3D apps use your Windows 3D card. Don't know how good it is since I only have real Amigas, but it might help you run the intro.

Suck-ass music. Why the hell do they rip shit? Why doesnt Exploder contact some musicans in the scene. I bet alot would like to be apart of his nice productions.

Btw:Who are theese guys, cant find much info on them on the regular scene sites....

I mean to have read or heard that Exploder is Russian. (or am I wrong?)

I know this Tony Aksnes from earlier days of the Amigascene. Actually I though he had disapeard long ago in the end of the 90ies.
I suspect him for being behind the cheesy poetry, and the music. So Exploder should absolutley get some talented gfx and music members in PUSH. (if not, you are welcome to join RNO ;)

at asm'99 they didnt care if the music was ripped. The demomusic from Yoman3 is a rip/mix of a "Paeronsoda" tune.. this is a 4k and its NOT a rip.. wankers!
"Bad artists copy. Great artists steal."

Although I don't care too much about ripping I still think you should use your synth to the fullest by giving it to a musician to do something original with it. Still can't believe the quality in this. It's amazing!
