If it weren't for ARB_fragment_program I could run your demo.

And I thought I had a good graphics card...

an invitation should run on a wide range of cards in my opinion, mine is not that old.

Fails with illegal memory acces. In addition to that the GUI is broken and does no show any start button. I had to guess using <tab>.

I got a DX9 card with the newest drivers. Sorry, that sucks.

They only want high spec users at their party. :P

stm's words.

except that I'll wait to see if a working ( on "low" spec users hardware ) version peeks a boo in the forthcoming days/weeks before rating it.

I 've always wondered wether one guy would have any amount of cheek to ripp Kenji Kawai for a demo. I can't believe it! I don't want to thumb it down coz' this should have required lots of work. Anyway : piggy face.. And that's so slow!

DX9 card, but verrrrry slow code and Ghost in the Shell ripoff soundtrack ...

I'm sorry, the 3D scenes look great, but this is too much
Sorry is this a slideshow ? Running at 2 secs / frame - athlon 3.0+ 5600ultra . ?!?

added on the 2004-06-15 03:04:23 by Navis Navis
This looks not bad enough. The scenes looks as the year 2000 scenes but consuming year 2011 demo time per frame. It sounds as a joke, but with in 320x200 mode, with all options at the minimum, it works near smooth in a 5200. I would have done this directly with 3dsmax and directly to video, or, at least, I would have added a not real time "render to avi" option. Well, I can't say it sucks... so is near ok.

2-8 fps on a fx5600 with everything to the minimun... Too slow for my taste, so a thumb down for me, even if the 3D was fucking nice

This is a above average demo and an outstanding invitation demo in modern time (Vip2 excluded).

Good looking, tho some artifacts, and decent framerate on my Radeon 9800pro.

Thumbs up for a good non-party release!

another demo with way too much blur. models look beautiful and the flow could have been great but i don´t feel the pace of the visuals connect with the music.

Looking very nice to me, and sounding very nice too. Yeah, maybe a little too much blur, but only a little. And the scenes were great, especially that strange rolling floppy spike ball :)

Only one scene (the fish one) was a little slow here (on quadro fx) but i'm sure that will be sorted later.

It's obvious what they're trying to say with this demo...if for some reason you can't watch this invitation, be it hardware limitations or because it crashes on your particular configuration, you're not invited. Probably one of the least inviting invitations on this site. Sorry guys, try harder next time.

I doubt that's their message, but it would be fun if it didn't crash here.

Ah! saw it.. Too much nausea inducing blur. It is probably so slow, because they seem to do a full god-knows-how-many-taps gaussian filter over the whole display buffer. Models nice, but end result flat.

i would like to say that it looks beautiful but it runs too slow on my computer, even i buyed myself a new graphics card some weeks ago: it does not run well on some parts. coders should learn that speed also has alot to say these days. yeah, isnt that strange? ;)

OK everybody You can grab the divx version now from plastic.fork.pl . The updated version of the executable (with new nVidia code) will be available at midnight...

The problem with the ripped music is that we don't have a musician in our group. And we're looking for one. So for those who didn't like ripped Kenji Kawai (Ghost in The Shell 2) You're probably a good musicians. Come then and join us in our passion...

rulez added on the 2004-06-15 17:56:46 by dairos dairos
Nothing wrong with high requirements - demos always required the best hardware available (Amiga, GUS, early 3d accels etc). It's time to end with this 'I want latest demos to run on my GF4MX' trend, which leads demoscene to stagnation.

But, I can't thumb this production up because I just don't understand why is it THAT slow on Radeon 9500 with latest drivers. I can understand why it is slow on GeForce FX series since those cards have really poor performance with latest shader models, but what's wrong with Radeon? People, please don't use OpenGL for coding demos :-)

And yes, anime sux.

True. And it's a fact that most scene musicians either don't have the skills or simply lack the resources to craft this kind of tune, so stop whining already. :)

After 30min of download, I watched the video.

Well, that's a fucking great WILD, but as an invitation it's a failure for its compatibily problems, and complete lack of infos about the party it's supposed to promote.

Othewise the visuals are really good ( well, it'd have hurt if they weren't after 30minutes of download ). It shows that there's a lot of work.

I don't really care about using a non-demoscene music, but I can't help making a difference between OST and commercial musics. That's stupid but I tend to think OST have more their place in WILDs than in realtime productions.

well ... it looks rather like 3D animation portfolio than a demo (or party invitation) to me. seriously, this doesn't feel like a demo or something scenish to me at all ...
i surely apprecciate the effort made and the awesome quality of objects and scenery but if there wouldn't be some greetings i would have no idea that it is scene-related at all. also the very 2D symphony-logo doesn't really match the style of the invite.
as a realtime 3D animation: awesome! as an invite to a demo party: not really.

i definately prefer moppi's assembly invite!

not really an invtro and albolone has a point with his "looks rather like a #D animation portfolio". in addition it doesn't work on my computer (gf4ti4600ultra, not leet enough) so i had to watch the capture..

OK dear friends - I've uploaded little faster version. I've measured that it does avarage 4 fps on geForceFX 5200 (that is 8 times faster that 0.5 ;)) and 45 on Radeon 9700 PRO (but sometimes drops to25 - but it is CPU limited). Both cards have 128MB's. My CPU is Athlon XP1800+, 256 MB RAM and Win2k.
I've added a little bonus at the end ;). Now I must find a bug that is apearing on Win9x. And then I'll send a new patch.
And now - just download new version by clicking "download".

ok, i checked the avi and i found it cool (damn i need a new powersupply :)
what i disliked was the music (theatric music is ok - as long as it lacks those earpiercing japanese vocals) and the fact that you didn't credit the author in the demo.
also, what's the point of the invitation if the demo doesn't contain any info from the party? i mean, you mentioned the party's name ONCE and have the URL in the readme, but THAT'S ALL? :D
the visuals looked nice, but all the blur got on my nerves, even tho i really liked the syncing on the greetz.
i'll watch it on my radeon as soon as i can get the card working, and thumb it up :)

Sorry, but i expected more. When will the scene recognize that "wobbelschwobbel" is done hundretthousandtimes before? ah, yes. the music roxx, but not as a rip in this demo.
And it "sucks" because it did not run on my machine for no reason (this demo could be done to be run at my machine, this is the point).

and by the way. this is a invitation isn`t it? So where are the informations about the party? Isn´t this one of the main reasons to release a invitation demo?

sorry, i really liked the last Madwizards and Plastic releases on pc and ofcourse amiga. but this one sucks. I hope "Your Fingers So Gently On My Skin" from plastic will be a real killer demo at Symphony.

i have mixed feelings about this one. on the other hand, awesome stuff - really takes advantage of the dx9 hardware. on the other hand as an invitation it doesn't fulfill its task at all. i would've spared this and polished it a bit for winning the democompo instead of releasing it as an invitation. :)

The requiements are the problem - 320x240, any filtering and AA disabled, the prod doesn't even reach near 25fps on reasonable hardware.

I like the style and cineastic movements, the tunnel sequence is stunning, but i think it's wasted time for the coders, if nobody can watch it :-(

I think a demo should show great things on today's hardware and not be an commercial for Radeon cards.

Please: Next time fewer high-tech shaders!

I have a Radeon 9700 mobile, basically a Radeon 9600 XT, and at 640x480 6xAA 16xAF it runs at about 20 FPS. I think that is good enough.
The visuals are great! It really does not look much like some simple rendered stuff, probably because of the light/material effects. The blur is also ok the way it is, but definetely not underused, to put it that way.
It would be better if the music were composed by a scener, but this one is really well chosen, just too bad the MP3-quality is so low.
All in all a good demo. It is a pity that many people will not be able to watch it at all because of the DX9 requirement, as the non-shader power of any gf3 or r8500+ would be sufficient, I suppose.

The visuals had some super smooth shading and there were some very nice bits of wibble-wobble. But ripped music that doesn't really fit and I really hated the constant blurring that kept constantly appearing and disappearing.
Could have easily won the democompy imho =)
Great overall, but not too sure if it really is quite fitting for an invtro. An invitation that runs on just a small fraction of the hardware out there, and tries to be more of an *oumph* tech demo than a real informational invitation... On a recent hardware it looks great. The sync to Kenji Kawai's music is really epic and compelling. I realize not everyone likes the way it's done, but I am still utterly blown away.

In my opinion the blur looks enough in place. There are prods that overuse it much more.

Had to watch for it's blurred parts two times to be sure I don't need glasses. ;)
Great invitation.

excellent quality.
if there's a fault with it, it's that it's standing out too much as an invitation.

Ripping commercial music in 2004 in so lame, like demoscene doesn't have any available musician nowadays...

Moreover you don't even promote some non famous guy, you just rip a classic (without authorization I guess and without fully crediting the author in the demo either afair).
