i loved this one ages ago, although i haven't seen it in years. i remember it was pretty hard to run :)

That's another one I can hardly run in any configuration. Today I can see in my old 3/486's only the beginning starwars scroller where there is no sound and then it shows black screen and doesn't start the main demo :(

I remember I also had problems running that in the older times I had another Cyrix 486. But just for once I succeeded in running it but don't remember many things! I also don't remember what I have done in my configurations in order to watch it :P

Still a very nice demo and the house techno part rocked for long time. Still no serious problems with running it.

This demo truly shows that Amiga can do it better.

I prefer State of the Art anytime, but back then it was a great substitute for pc people who didn't have access to an Amiga ;-)

this was one great dem back in the days. the dumb thing about it was when you was showing it off to your non-scene friends and they had to endure the first three or four parts.. what a bummer that i only found about the "executable.exe <partnumer>"-thing a few years too late. :)

i liked it when i first saw it, and it's still somehow cool to watch. but thanks for the hint, gloom, i didn't knew that trick :D

I always thought this one was overrated, though it contains its share of cool stuff.

the first part were nice but not too impressive. The house/techno part kicked ass however...

BTW, Witan was way ahead of it's time, the house part is stuffed with BASS :-)

I bought a 386 board just to run this demo at the "proper" speed...But I first ran it on a 486/66, and prefer it on there. The 3D lightshaded part wasn't very impressive on the 386 as it was on the 486, but perhaps running it on a 50MHz 386 as opposed to a 33MHz would make it better.

Disable himem.sys in config.sys, and make sure emm386 is enabled.
I kinda liked it back then.

For the house part, can't remember what else there was before that...

Pretty damn awful demo, but it does have a couple good tracks, and I like some of the design in the vector anim part.

classic but well...
killer demo back then. rave part is timeless.

Looking back, it's funny how much they "borrowed" from Vision demos on Amiga. The WITAN logo in part 2 is derived from the VISION logo in Can't Be, the girl pic in part 1 is taken from the same demo, and the music in part 3 is similar to the music from Another One. I'm guessing some Witan guys came from Vision?

Anyway, thumb for nostalgia purposes.

the rave part isn't my cup of tea ...

Oh the memories... The house part still kicks ass, and the music to the vector part mesmerized me back then.

If i'm correct some gfx where drawn by Di-Art which consist out of Orc, Reyn Ouwehand and Hein. Hein is also founder of Vision so it's not strange that some things in this demo look familiar to amiga demos. Most of the (if not all) Witan guys came from the C64 scene and we met frequently in Venlo in the 1990's.

Hmm. Good one.

And I should say that Witan guys forgot to credit 4mat because they used his music in the vector eq part, as I didn't manage to find a credit to him neither at the start of this demo, nor at that part, nor when running FACTNOTE.EXE. Hmm.

For 1992 it is absolutely brilliant.

The first 9 minutes are rather terrible but the techno part works really well even though it's not much more than a picture viewer.
