Note that the video of this one compresses extremely poorly, and at least the ASMTV stream capture on Youtube is missing practically all of the particle details.

The direct video link is decent at 1GB, but it is hosted on my home server and you'll likely spend all day waiting for it to download. Running the intro yourself is recommended, and it should work from 1600 series onwards.

Noisy and grating in a way that I find highly unappealing.

Thumbs for the platform alone :)

@wrighter: The mesh shader performs a raycast and then generates points at that location. This allows performing raycast into the shape only once, but then creating the particle trails without spending extra GPU time while 'walking' along the trail. Those points are generated in 3D space and transformed by projection times camera matrix, so they'll look to be in correct relation to each other regardless of the ray that generated them.
Generating points also allows for doing the rain around the camera as similar points, which would be hard or impossible to do by raymarching. The raindrops even do a raycast upward so they won't be generated if there's a 'roof' close by.
The fragment shader is a one-line copy of the point color. There is no post-processing.
If you want to play with it, start the (non-minified, of course) demo with '-d' flag. LMB and drag to rotate camera, WASD moves. F5 to reload shaders if you edit them. There's more controls, look at 'src/intro.cpp'.

Really nice! Was impressed by usage of the mesh shader there, which was very creative.

What NR4 said ^

Whish the visuals had more contrast, and were a little less jumpy, but the rendering is interesting and worth exploring further!

Extra kudos for releasing the source.

Yeah, DON'T watch this as a video, do yourself a favor and just download it.

+ Not just two triangles & shader; unique look
+ Music is nice; sounds rough, but this fits the vibe
- I agree, the visuals are sometimes it's a bit too jumpy and noisy

Everybody loves a good streamkiller. The capture is nice, be sure to use a player with hardware acceleration :-)

If the video loads too slowly for you, be aware that my Pouët mirror includes pretty much every link on every prod, so you can find a (hopefully) faster download here

Very cool vibe, very creative, i like!

Couldn't get the sizecoded variant running under current Fedora, but the 1.5M variant worked fine

@NinjaKoala: There's something off with Linux minification currently. I actually mentioned this shortly in the prizegiving. Latest Debian and Ubuntu no longer run minified 32-bit binaries - they crash on a call to dlopen (from SDL). Latest Ubuntu actually also crashes on 64-bit (Debian works).
This is one of the reasons we went with FreeBSD even if you lose some 70 bytes there due to __progname and environ. Ubuntu 22.04 still works fine.
Another reason is FreeBSD is going to drop ia32 in 15-RELEASE, so from next year on Linux better work or the era of ELF intros is over.

@wrighter: Do you have the latest Visual C++ redistributable installed? I had the same issue and installing it naturally fixed the issue. Probably should have a note in the nfo file, really.
yes, i do c++ dev and i do have it installed/updated recently.
