Function 2015 :: September 11/12/13 :: Budapest, Hungary
category: parties [glöplog]
wet z-sort compo!
Aquaman to the rescue
New this year: Oldschool demo.
Function never had many oldschool entries, so we were fine so far with a combined demo compo. But this year we were contacted by a number of people asking about their oldschool entry in the combined demo. So we decided to make a separate category, just for oldschool entries.
The main rule is: make it run on anything which is 20 years or older. Read here the other rules.
Consider this as an experiment, we really hope the compo will be able to sustain itself, so we can repeat it in the following years. If there will not be enough entries (less than 3), we will contact the authors for cancelling or putting their entry into another compo.

amazing!!!! can't wait!! \o/
just 20 years? that already includes win95 machines :)
64MB demo limit? you forgot to update the 2006 rules? :)
T$: If someone manages to pull together a decent Win95 demo w/o DirectFoo (which was not available for the 1st Win95 AFAIK), on 1995-hardware, we take it! :)
Maali: I'm not the main compoorga, but no Function demo entry during the last years came even close to that limit. It was discussed in the Orga team several times, then left as it is. But safe to say, if someone enters a really killer demo, which is 65MB compressed, we probably won't throw it out. :P

ATTENTION:
If you plan to visit Function this year, and you would like to buy a t-shirt, please register on the party page, so we have a better picture about how much we need to order. Remember to pick the T-Shirt size while registering, of course. Thanks!
If unsure, take a look at the T-Shirt design here.

Is it possible to make the t-shirt white or any other colour which is not dark?

yes please contact me pasyfrs(at)gmail.com
Not sure what "DirectFoo" is, but DirectDraw was indeed available in 1995. 3D acceleration wasn't, so there's no real reason to use it over some good old DOS code.
The 64MB limit is funny, because the text states "have all the space you want" :D

"64MB is enough for everyone!"
Remember the previously announced Superfunction compo? The grand prize is an iPad 3 Mini, provided by Graphisoft!
(semi-OT: This is the second time I've realized, while registering on the website for party, it might be nice EDGE CASE EDGE CASE to have an "It's complicated"selection in the country dropdown. Revision has a generic EU option which sort of works . . . That said, this year United States was an option, which was good, because last year I had to pick a country at random, so I said I was coming from the Holy See. Hee. )
two weeks checkpoint!!!
still enough time before the deadline...

Working on an oldschool entry is like:
4102... 4100... 4099... 4097... 4097... 4097... 4097... 4099... :D
This year's shinies have arrived!
And now we even have a timetable, featuring seminars and live acts. And compos, of course.
:)
Video and wild is same compo or just in the same compoblock?
They're the same, aren't they? There's no separate "video" compo.
