woot, # 12! Thanks Optane
Feline disrespect from behind!
i still fail to see why the random image thread had to be closed. Please explain.
i kinda feel the same way as "torus". i am not very active in the scene any more but i enjoy coming back to the forums of pouet - and the random image thread actually spiced up the site in periods with few releases.

STFU AND POST A RANDOM IMAGE!
STFU AND POST A RANDOM IMAGE!
fail
rasmus, if you will go to random image thread, you'll see this message:
"okay, the thread reached 0x8000 posts, which means it ran it's course. now go make a demo about it. (a demo, NOT a new thread.)"

Less talky, more posty.
Not that I've been following but good luck to Holland.

adramelek, that's not really a reason. it's just like saying "we have closed this thread, please don't start a new one"
The thread was closed because, unlike pigs, trumpets, vuvuzelas and the World Cup, it had nothing to do with the demo scene. Now you may think the BBS was never supposed to be a serious demo scene forum, but somehow you'd be wrong.
^^ i approve of dooms post
& yet we've seen the creation of more than 1 successor and numerous other 'random' threads. If mods arbitrarily closed the thread then they must have had some idea of what could (& did) ensue. Surely reopening the thread as read-only might at least allow some of us "non-hardcore-sceners" to have a chuckle at the goings on there. Just saying.
ringo, the misassumption you make is that pouet has forum mods. like, people who chose to take on such a role and actually spend considerable amounts of time thinking about what course of action is best.
Well, clearly they don't spend a lot of time thinking, but there are people with administrator access who occasionally decide to make these little "tweaks" to the BBS. They might as well be moderators. Which is all well and good, but sometimes you have to wonder what their motivations are when stuff like this happens.
cut the bullshit - mods closed the only thread worth looking on this site. making demos is not enough :)
for the mods:
:)

btw, i'm with the protesters. the thread is fun, and the occasional 4chan/other nutcase like ringo that it attracts is not really a problem. i say open it back up!
post here, still ~32k posts to go before closure =D
skrebbel: seconded.
this is a highly inspirational random thing i wouldn't want to miss.

Motion is carried.
We prefer the term - "Perceived Reality Challenged" ;-)

It's clear that they/their database used signed short for the post counter but wouldn't admit that. It's easier to whine that it's not demoscene-related than to fix a bug in BBS software.
i'd try it out...
