but i guess we all prefer double standards right?

well good sir, if having standards is good, then having double standards would be exactly twice as good, right? :p

i'm grateful to BITS for allowing me to adjust my thumb ratio while remaining well within socially acceptable boundaries. as a bonus, BITS allows me to every once in a while express my dissatisfaction with the acceptance of commercially motivated productions on this website. my gratitude, however, would not stop me from radically changing policies concerning said policies should i ever be allowed to do so.

havoc: i can't read people's minds, but i have a feeling that most people who show "disgust" and dissatisfaction with BITS are actually just joining in on the joke too :) In fact, thumbing them up (which I tend to do) is probably ruining the whole point of the "joke".

ban BITS!!!

oh yes, they do. or do they?

Actually, comparing "Linger.." to all of the BITS-stuff is flawed. For one, "Linger.." is just one prod. It's not a constant barrage of prods, which are all for sale. That, plus the fact that BITS IS FUCKING SHIT of course.

Banning is too much? Fine - no BITS prods gets front-page coverage then. The guy can keep adding them as much as he likes, but nobody will ever see them unless they go looking for them. An appropriate solution to the goddamn spamming of shit.

that's pretty much the definition of a double-standard right there. no go.

more like the definition of triple standard if you ask me :)
added on the 2009-02-21 20:25:47 by havoc havoc
that's just two double standards combined :P

also, even if the decision comes to remove the majority of the bits prods (and consequently LiS, 3Dmark, Mindcandy, etc.), i WILL keep the ones released at parties, since that's the partyorganizer's decision to keep it in the compo

Oh noes. Even pouet must go then. ;)

Double standard or not, where this idea of "Since I call this a demoscene prod, it cannot be removed!" (= BITS defense) came from, I have no clue.
added on the 2009-02-21 20:43:35 by gloom gloom
it's your perogative... but as was said once upon a time in the zest discussion, staying on pouet is not some kind of godgiven right applicable to each and every individual regardless of what they say and/or do. imho the same should go for groups, productions, etc. i wholeheartedly embrace the virtues of benevolent dictatorship, as it in many cases is the only system that actually gets stuff done :-)
added on the 2009-02-21 20:49:38 by havoc havoc
In my opinion, the only proper reason to remove prods from pouet are 1) they contain illegal content and/or 2) they're not demoscene related. Putting in quality filters would probably warrant the removal of like 90% of pouet content anyway, and I see no reason why BITS prods would not be demoscene productions, even if they are a bit... special.

Why do they bother you that much? You get free glöps and thumbdown points, and there's certainly no one making you watch them. Sure, they apper on the front page from time to time, but seriously, it's not like there's a flood of productions competing for space.

I second Preach.
Preacher: what pissed me off was al-taubah actually, but BITS is just a little bit different kind of shit. i hate it when someone makes crap *on purpose*, and connects it with a religion he doesn't have any idea about (not, i'm not a muslim, but that doesn't mean i cannot see possible, subtle results of such case. another release like that and there will be comments like 'another islam crap', while it should be 'another troll with code crap'), just like i hate fascist crap (i saw one today on pouet as well, was on front-page). BITS prods are actually the less evil from all those, and some people find those funny, so fine. i don't give a shit about BITS, i give a shit about shit on pouet in general.

oh well, i guess we should always try to weight it against bigger matters such as the vatican threading lightly on the holocaust or some bearded sack of shit flying a plane into a skyscraper :)
