at least not here, not after seeing another BITS crap, trolling with code crap.. do we really need all kind of possible shit here?

if ((prod.avg <= -0.64) && (prod.num_of_votes >= 32)) {
prod.GTFOKTHXBYE();
}

well, i would made an exception. if prod was released on a party, then it should stay whatever the rating is. but otherwise..

no mercy for lamers.

Solution: Don't click on their links, don't download their stuff, don't watch them...
skope: you won't know that some prod is a crap, if you're clicking on links on main page. besides, there's really A LOT of prods with NO SINGLE VOTE. some of them pretty good i guess. but who will ever watch them, when people are busy with downglopping BITS?

History is also about the crap that happened.

The BBS is a whole different topic though.

unic0rn: True I guess, then again I can't really get why people get so bothered by BITS stuff. I mean people should have gotten the idea already, how many BITS demos do you have to watch before you stop bothering with them at all?
unicorn, i know what you mean and i sometimes feel the same. i sometimes even miss the good old bbs admins and their helpers that would nuke lame stuff and issue penalise those who wouldn't comply. it's a netiquette thing.

but pouet is not like that by design which i personally find quite lame.

it just sucks that there are no rules for what is allowed, and what is not. prods are being removed for 'not being demoscene related', but it's all up to operators. fine. but for example, i've released one or two flash games some time ago, both were deleted. there was no asm force then, no single intro from me yet, so i guess it was ok. but at the same time, those were things pushing flash player to the limits, and that's what demoscene is about - to push any particular platform to it's limits. a lot of games is out here, on pouet, kept intact just because their autors released some 'demoscene related' crap. and those games are crap as well. and in fact, 90% of their shit is not worth watching anyway.

i don't care about my own old removed stuff, from the perspective of time i find it lame anyway. i also don't care about lame stuff being released from time to time. but overall it keeps pouet trashed with crap, and while you can easily find the best prods overall, it's quite sad that people who don't care about learning stuff, getting better and who care about quality of their prods, are getting possibly less votes because their prods are surrounded by crap, made by people who just wanna get attention and create some controversy, and that controversy makes their prods more popular, despite the fact that they don't give a shit about learning anything other than trolling.

should be 'who care about learning stuff' :/

unicorn: if you dont know that BITS prods are complete shit by now, then you deserve to watch them. in fact, you deserve to PAY for 'em via paypal :)

well, SoLo2 sells his "Demos" on his website for 3 Euro / Intro/Demo etc...
So its commercial and should be deleted.

unicorn: in fact, i actually ENJOY BITS productions in a strange way. you really do not have the right to tell me what is worth watching. so pls...get off your soap box.

just for the record, glöperators cannot delete prods, they can only ask admins to do so, just like any other user.

furthermore, what aquaman said.

Must say I also enjoy BITS demos. Why? Not everything has to be ultra pretentious and feel like it was produced by a huge company. I like some slackness with my demo watching. It feels like BITS had fun while making their stuff, and that's what I enjoy. That's what I miss from the 80's when I fell in love with the demo scene.
hello: if you enjoy them so much, i guess you would be happy if you would have to pay for them? ;)

and yeah, what aquaman said.

But like I said, if you hate it, why even bother with clicking on the link....
skope: some people have fun with trolling, i guess BITS have fun with getting popularity here. if he/they would respect their own work, they would be getting better. but that wouldn't really make them as popular as they are, don't you think? there are two ways to get popularity here: trolling or hard work. trolling should be banned, imho.

skope: to make sure they won't accidentally reach top of the month, or even worse, all time top ;)

Peter: that 'if' instruction in my first post in this thread is nothing more than a natural selection ;)

Basically, there is too much noise around here (although this can be part of the fun)

unic0rn: One of the reasons why I like BITS is that they _don't_ take it seriously. And I guess that's why other people like them too. I download, watch and have a chuckle, then delete. What a fucking boring scene it would be if everybody was dead serious, drinking red whine and writing poetry all the time. I can only take so much of that. If that's what all of the demo scene was doing I would have left it back in 87 where I found it.
can be, if it's one-time zero-bytes release by optimus, and not tens of releases by someone who thinks that releasing crap is fine.

i guess that's just the way it is.

Everybody is different and has something to offer, and one would expect to find these values in a supposedly creative community like Pouet.

(Yes, this comes from the #1 Atari-flamer)

;)
Ban the commercial stuff.
But seriously why the fuck should old or new bad productions be shunned? Sounds as good as we should start thinking with our arses...
