Hardware stupidity

Ugh!
Have it ever occured to you that you make something stupid with hardware that you are not aware at the time and it can lead in you thinking that your computer doesn't work anymore and make you angry and hitting it and going to break it while it works? What an ugly law of murphy :P
I was working on my laptop and suddenly it shut down. Shit!
I remember there was a problem with it's fan and more of them because it sucks and thought this was it. I was angry, I opened it, lost my time, nothing happen, it wouldn't start. I was so angry I hit it hard. I was very dissapointed that I could have broken it while there was never really a problem. Simply, with all the mess of the cables on the table I pulled some and the power supply cable was removed :P
Agghh!!! For a while the battery worked but then shut down of course..
I was hitting it for half an hour and wondering what the hell. I could say it's dead. When I found it I was ashamed and sorry that for no real problem I could have broken something else. And then the USB doesn't find my mouse. I said "Oh shit!!! By hitting it I make the USB not working :("
But it did work with another mouse..
So,. the loss of all this is that my USB mouse doesn't work. Which I can't explain more. What does it have with me hitting the stupid laptop hard?
Have you broken or lost your day with hardware because you thought they seized working, while it was something simple like the cable was not plugged or something? And feel stupid? Ugh :P

Oh by the way, the worst stupid thing with hardware was when my snort fell from my nose to the controller board of a brand new hard-drive while being powered after I installed it. This was last winter when I was having a cold. The HD was damaged. The nice thing is that they had to change it for a bigger one since they didn't have 80Gb left in their store.

HAHA, now i know the REAL reason my Dell laptop fell apart along the borders. :) you remember? The other one i had with me at tUM 2004. The one at which you were angry that it doesn't access pouet.net. (well, the party didn't offer internet). The one you managed not to puke upon. :)

They have been gelling smaller with time, but are not quite away yet. The black one is way too small to see now, and the wet one is only visible against white background at certain angles.
Other things? Tripping over a cable left me without a headphone output. Damn, man i hate this kind of things.

Hmm... so, a lot of time ago I left a big electrolytic capacitor connected in parallel with a power supply's connectors when working with 5 volts. Then after some time I needed an higher voltage but I forgot to detach the capacitor. The capacitor happily exploded mucking up everything around \o/
Or a sadder coincidence was when, always a lot of time ago, I fed the home hi-fi with a square wave generator and managed to fuck the tweeter of one of the loudspeakers. The problem was that they were a bit expensive... -_-
