This was the first ones demos I've ever saw. In this prod. Fine 3D engine for that days! (the 1º part),quality dezign for all the cuts & sync. over all the demo

Pay close attention to the first part. Can you say "3 years ahead of Quake"?

Though some nice effects follow that, the design seems to fall apart. Still deserved to win, of course.

BTW, this demo will still run _perfectly_ on a Pentium II with Win98! (you may have to boot to DOS though)

The great with this demo was the first part with the Doom-Quake Engine at 1993!
And until the zooming tunnel thing it seemed to me that I will se a perfect demo!!!
But then I don't like it that much,. there are some parts not that good as I wanted, and then the demo ends, the demo seems short to me..

But still only for the beginning it deserves it! I just would like to imagine if there were more and cooler parts and a much bigger and massiver demo how much more attention would this demo get!

Technically a great demo, too bad the design and music sucks...

Argh. Whether it's because I love Max Payne or whether it's because I've come to my senses, I'll give it a 'rulez'.

Is it really 10 years now that Dust won TP3 with this? Hell, where did I loose the time...
Anyway, back then a technically brilliant demo. Today this brings up some nostalgia of great party times for me.

i need to add a thumb. best texture & gouraud code of 1993. runs fine in dosbox 0.72 (11/27 build) with dynamic cpu although the music is a little buggy.

DOSBox-0.72 here, same problem as Broderick. So, I have to download 0.63 for it to work...

I was actually too lazy to download an old version of DOSBox, so I set up this beauty to run the demo. It took two floppies and some tweaking (It has no HD) but finally the demo started and ran to the end. The sound didn't work though. I only heard the first buffer of sound, then all became silent. (Crappy OPTi sound chip :p )

phoenix: This is a bug I experience alot in DB. Generally SB > GUS in DOSBox.

One of the first demos i´ve watched
rulez added on the 2009-03-07 16:27:46 by T$ T$
I just watched it for the first time. I was a little bit surprised that in terms of technology it was not that far from second reality. Unfortunately it misses some kind of design. Nevertheless an outstanding demo for its time.

The 3D is very impressive (including simulated walking dynamics), and the effects on the tunnel are fun (if disturbing :) ).

stunning 3D graphics for a 1993 demo !

The bee's knees in 1993. The first two parts of the demo were remarkable. (when you watch the 3D part today, keep in mind it was released in the same month the original Doom hit the scene)

And yes, the music is very bland. Most of the last few effects were basically filler, too. :)

The 3d dungeon must have been amazing back then. The 2d graphics and transitions were excellent, but the soundtrack is truly terrible.

One of my favourite demos from the days of yore: Some very nice and creative scenes, extraordinary code, great effects. A well-deserved victory.

Terrible music, though. Just terrible.
