massive! and gives me inspiration to do a c-64 demo!
i've been waiting for a C64 demo like this for a long long time - this dynamism, design, sync... maybe the first REAL trackmo for the c64? (i know, i know, perhaps an overstatement, but you get my point.)
i sense a new era starting.

it's really cool even though I think there are too many rotozoomers involved.
kwite ruling stuff!
Niiiiiice! Blew me away bigtime!!
what the hell, this is fantastic, i love everything, great ideas, fx, design, gfx, transitions, music and all flowed perfectly, instant love, massive respect :)
As I wrote on CSDB, easily the best C64 demo so far. Lots of coder porn and completely flawless technical and design-wise execution. Loved the music transition when turning the disk :)
The best out of many excellent releases at x 2008. C64 scene is elite!
Nothing short of amazing. It was well worth the wait!
What kb said. You win the demoscene.
I'm taking a note here: huge success.
Easiy one of the best demos ever!
Probably one of the best C64 demo ever !
Design, coderporn, it's all there, but most of all: FLOW! Well worth the wait!
nice
simply kixx!
whiskey. tango. foxtrot.
one of the best c64 demos ever (if not the best)..
great job!
great job!
milestone
This is - indeed - the C64 demo to end all C64 demos. Unbelievable stuff.
so this is what you get when you spend seven years (off and on) on a demo, and the hardware isn't constantly changing on you. i am in awe at the time and effort put into this production. astounding graphics, many, many effects running smoother than ever (even if they could have impressed more if they weren't saved up! :), and flawless transitions that are more at home on an amiga than a c64.
The best demo soundtrack I have ever heard on any platform.
On top of that, this has very good flow and lot of good graphics - and it has filled vectors for fucks sake! Easily the best Commodore 64 demo ever, and I would also swap it with half the demos on the top ten here any day of the week.
I have deep and profound respect for Booze Design.

The design was very slick, even if the device it was running on is older than I am, or heck, even if I can't appreciate it totally as I lack knowledge of technical difficulties being faced, that was one awesome demo I've seen there.
WOW !
for me the best demo i have seen so far on the c64 !
many content and some of the smoothest effects ever ! also great graphics, concept and music !!!
i extremely love the fading thingy´s between the effects !
to say it in one simple word ! Outstanding !

this blew me away
I'm not a big fan of 8bit demos, but I really enjoyed this one.
The graphics were great and the transitions were some of the best ever and gave it the feeling of a continuous and coherent show. A lot of thought went into the design.

If it was 5 minutes, I might have thought of it as an okey demo. If it was 2 minutes and only contained the best effects and the overall cool design, I probably would have liked it a little.
..But 15 minutes of technowanking with no story and awfully boring music just isn't worth watching. Very little truly original stuff, even for C64.

Thank you.
There is very little to say that hasn't already been said - this is one awesome piece of demo. At one point there is a scroller that says "this is the new standard in zoomscrollers". I say "This is the new standard." Period.

technowanking with no story
I wonder how you actually thumbed up a few demos, and not "Watching demos can kill you"...
Anyway... the scene.org award for best demo in an oldschool plaftform goes to...
^ Say what demos and I'll tell. :-)
Nice Logo...okay, forgot that point. Big respect for the code. But the rest was meh....
absolutely brain-blasting demo. the logos really touch my heart (reminding me on really good pc ansi), the music is hypnotizing, the transitions take away your breath, and well, the code is of course out of this world. one of the very few things from the past months that make me feel proud as a scener - and one of the best demos of all times.
even the hype couldnt´t destroy it for me!
<3 it!
felt like an Amiga demo at amigas best times, just with the unique SID-sound and the nice colors we all adore that much!
you guys really deserve that "dezign"-appendix! those transitions worked out way too nice! i especially love the rubber-logo-transition :)
the MCP brought us booze,so lets party!

I don't know the ins and out of the guts of the C64 but I can recognize coder pr0n when I see it.
Mad props! the code look amazing to me, the tune is great, the logos are the shit, the transitions are cool ( some made me think of Southside Exploration )
Only tiny bitsy whiny bit : the 3 images look like conversions :\

These routines kick ass, and the design is simply insane. <3
I vote: buksevann til : tzaeru
Great stuff, only downside for me was that disk 2 didn't last as long as disk 1. Very nice production!
This is just too fucking cool in all aspects with a great flow, C64 scene is elite indeed!
Doesn`t even come close to the best PC demos, and that sucks, better luck next time.
Rulez so much in every way! This is either the end of the C64 scene or the beginning of a new era.
fantastic demo, and it gives interresting clues about demo design, even to the pc scene. thanks for that guys.
Proof that BOOZE does aid DESIGN!! Fantastic in all ways! * )
really asskicking! i love you!
All has already been said.
deus ex machina gone 50fps.
I like it ... but it's certainly not the end of c64 demos.
I like it ... but it's certainly not the end of c64 demos.
Shame about the ridiculous hype, but big thanks for 15 minutes of material that sends most of us straight back to school. Now, what platform will get the next real bar-raiser and who'll be the ones to do it?
Awfull colour, nice sound... C64. But thumbs up for the ideas, presentaion, and coding.
Almost deserved the hype. The only complain is too much reuse of zoom and plasma effects (although I do like these ones and they were very smooth, but when you are a hungry democonsumer and wait for the next part to see something different, yet another zoomer appears (maybe done with a different technique but most people won't understand)), I loved more parts like the rotozoomer, 3d polygons, 3d dots and crosszoomer. Yet it's the transitions and the vast ammount of work that blows me off. It does inspire me to try coding something on the C64. (have said that since ages though :P)
excellent! agree with optimus about plasma/zoom effects reusage though
Marvellous!
15 years ago you would have named this demo "Plasma Mania" or "Zoom-o-Rama"
15 years ago you would have named this demo "Plasma Mania" or "Zoom-o-Rama"
Also, funny thing, I woke up today at 6:00 instead of 8:00 to go to work, and did the F5 thingy in my mobile phone (don't have internet at new home yet, checked every hour pouet in case it was uploaded). And there it was, downloaded it in my phone, transfered it to the PC and watched it twice early in the morning. Lulz :P
Also, I am curious. Why people did hyped and now do say that this is like the first true trackmo or more like an Amiga trackmo? Ok, some trackmos on the C64 shows a screen or black screen to save some time for loading, maybe some things are going a little faster here, but there are still screens that last longer than they should. It doesn't seem much different than other C64 trackmos in that aspect or maybe I am wrong? But when I first heard the hype, I was dreaming about a trackmo with such speed of changing effects and transitions similar to Technological Death by Mad Elks. It's not what I got here :/

demo is nice and the music kickass!
hey, dont forget about the "speed" of a 1541-floppy ;) (eventho most ppl watch it in an emulator nowadays it should still be watchable on the real thing!)
and i am totally happy with the pace of this demo! :)

Some ppl said "don't believe the hype!".
Unbelievers!

It's really-really amiga-oldschool in way and form. (I don't usually check c64 demos for the "oldschool" flavour)
best
awesome show! ;)
Oh yeah!
this is just very very good!
just... relentless :O
Great.
superb, the most stunning thing i've ever seen a C64 do ever. jawdroppingly good. congrats booze design.
OMG.
I never thought a 15 minute demo would leave me wanting more.
Just so good.

Well, it was a great time knowing you, my dear lovely demoscene. Now when all this is over, what is your plan for the future? ;-) ...Seriously, this is some serious work of serious art! Show this to Jack Tramiel and film him watching it and put it on bestreactions.com.
I doubt he would give a shit.
Take it back to Commodore in 1983, then you'll get a worth while reaction ;-)

jack tramiel? you mean the guy who killed commodore?
You said Design on C=64
Chessboard thing, lines transition, rotozoom and vector part are fucking cool.

this is just so unbelievable in every aspect (code, gfx, transitions, mzk)..
and no slowdowns and only one effect (wobbly bitmaps) where one can spot something like an approximation that had to be used to make it fast!

Pretty much surpassed all my expectations on what you can fit on three disksides. The 2d graphics, the vic-pr0n, the smooth and ultra stylish transitions with absolute sync to the music, and the soundtrack.
Oh wow.
This is perhaps the ultimate effectshow demo to date.

Didn't seem like 15 minutes at all to me, and I'm one who usually finds c64 demos long and boring. This was the complete opposite.
This production is ace (although technically probably not the best ever on C64, as implied by some of the previous posters). I like your design skills and your attention to detail. Thanks for the great show!
Yeeha
awesome
Music == 10/10 && Visuals == 10/10

Disco Floor :)
There were couple of moments that really surprised me. Thank you for that.
Really, really, really rocks !!
wtf...?
WTF!!!!????
WTF!!!!????
No words, just Vote!
another milestone in the c64scene history.
awesome stuff, and every detail well polished. flawless great gfx and music. even the terminator title melody did fit :)

Really great!
what the hell!!!!! this prod excels on all fronts. but especially the integration is just so fine. c64 rules! maybe the best demo i have ever seen. i have no words. the only downside is that effects are repeated. it could have been 9 minutes instead of 14.
An awesome amount of very cool code, graphics and music! It has the best implementations i've ever seen of most of the good old C64 effects. I particularly love the way the pixel art is displayed and the high resolution zoom/scroll images. Looks kind of HD ;) And filled vectors rule! After the releases at X, the C64 scene totally dominates the PC scene this year..! Would love to see this demo nominated for best demo (on any platform)
InstaLOVE production! :-)
Is the music somewhere available as standalone? I would love to listen it while coding :-)

easyly the best c64 demo i know so far.

A bit overhyped IMHO but cool demo. Especially the zoomers are excellent. And I totally love the zoom scroller! :) Don't know what to think about the music though, some parts were really not my cup of tea while others were very cool (like when the first vector part starts f.e.).
Stunning.
wow
rulez
this is the end, no more demos
ok
Booze is top in the C64 Scene. C64 is top in the scene...
Grats HCL, Jailbird and Dane, you did it again.

Awesome masterpiece!
Thanks for give us this great demo!
Thanks for give us this great demo!
15 minutes of pure pleasure!
Wow.
earx: Actually no effects are repeated, they may look similar, but require very different types of code to pull off. :-)
Nice work lads!
hiperultramegamasterpiece-demo... uff respect guys
wow that saved my day during the first coffee ;)
cool stuff... esp because it has alot of overscan or better sideborder effects... never seen that many in a c64 demo (ok dunno that many c64 demos) esp because they are fast...
cool music and great transistions... a worthy winner for sure ;)

unbeatable masterpiece!
Just great !
omfg.
milestone, thank you guys
better than porn
Awesome demo. In term of design I prefered Oxyron demo. But still everything amazed me here. Just my first impressions here: that disco floor was sex. Crazy fast 3d dots, same for the filled vectors a la Enigma, very impressive. Loved a lot the light on the horizontal mapping. Killer zoomers. Great music, I think at Cybernoid.
The only bad point: it is too short ;Pp

Very innovating and very long! Impressive!
respect!
BEST. C64. DEMO. EVER. PERIOD.
DAFT PUNK! Extra thumb up ;D
...
Not my favorite c64 demo, but quite close. Good thing I love zoomers and pseudo3d!
<3
Veri nájsz prod! Rúlsz bigtájm!
omfg. 11 out of 10 points.
Just saw it on my real C64.. really cool.
...RESPECT...
only one question: dane, hcl, jailbird, how much time did you spent to create such awesomeness?
only one question: dane, hcl, jailbird, how much time did you spent to create such awesomeness?
Some nice effects, but nothing that made me go "wow". The music is konda annoying, mostly because of the sounds. Also it was too long and pretty boring, but overall it still doesn't suck and deserves a piggy :)
really really impressive!
Pure craziness...loved the disco floor. Definitely the best c64 demo i've ever seen.
diver-4d: from what I heard it took about 5 - 7 years or so... not non-stop work, I think, but still...
good one.
An impressive demo! But the hype was too absurd.
YES. this is THE C64 demo for sure.
someone put this on youtube with the scenesat audio.
one hell of a designed prod and ace in every aspect
one of the best C64 demos out there for sure :)
Yeah nice for sure, but there's a bit too much plasma and zoom effects for my taste.
in between the awesome gfx and music the sheer VOLUME of quality moments has me thinking this is secretly an amiga demo :O
I can't really rate this on a technical level since I'm not familiar enough with the c64. But it's a great demo regardless of platform; it has a good and coherent design, beatutful pixelwork and a nice soundtrack.
ooooo_OOOO
so smooth, so good looking and what a design!
What Stingray said....
ok, I expected quite a bit more, due to all the hype. don't get me wrong, this is a fantastic demo, probably up there in the Top 5 C64 demos of all time. the transistions are wonderful, the graphics are very nice and the originality in certain parts of the tune was awesome.
but honestly, there are c64 that match this overall and a couple (which I will not mention) that actually beat this, IMO.
but then, I'm not 100% clued-up on the techniocal extremes of the c64...so maybe I'm missing something _revolutionary_ and extraordinary about these routines which is making everyone else's jaws drop and causing them to handover their hard earned Coup de Cors (CDCs)????? not sure.
But regardless, this is an EPIC production and extremely enjoyable. I'm just not sure it's as amazing as all the hype suggests.
Great prod!!

far from my all time top, but a great prod anyway.

Seems to repeat a couple of effects a bit too much, but still damn good.
C64 rulez:)
:-O
kicks ass
What nearly everyone said!
Amiga inside ? :)
seriously deranged. Had I seen it back in 1985 my head would explode into millions of pieces.
It is 2008 now and this thing is still amazing.

Piece of the art
Massive! :)
Stingray got it right. All-time top stuff!
i've no clue about the technical aspects of this thing simply because i've no clue about the c64. but yeah, the plasmas and scrollers did look less blocky than in any other c64 demo i saw, so that's probably a good thing.
also kudos for the design, the colours, etcetera. the vast majority of the c64 scene can take your example here - you don't need to make a demo with one 3d bloke sitting on a chair and nothing else to be design, and you don't need to have horrible colours on coder porn. i didn't even recognise the repeated effects that everybody here complains about, probably because you guys made them look different and i suck at recognising coder porn.
ups to the tune, too, which did not try to sound like a chiptune, but like a demo soundtrack.
next time, also change the fact that all your (and the whole c64 scene's) motion was either linear or sines (sine = headache), and i might actually start watching the commodore compos again. you guys rule.
mega thanks for the disco part (and the seamless transition of the music into it), btw. if i could print (animated) demo parts on A1 sheets, it'd be on my door right now.

Copy&Paste from my CSDB comment :)
Since I'm not a graphician or musician, I will focus on the programming of this demo.
Code Review:
EoD is one of the best c64 demos ever done in scene history, that's for sure. A straight 10/10.
Nowadays, it's really hard to make demos techically impressive. Many people believe that every vic trick has already been done on c64. Maybe that's true (not likely) but this demo shows us there is still much to discover.
Many effects (zoomers, plasmas, vectors etc.) have been done many times before. EoD is all about pushing the limits, combining effects together, spending all the cycles with great ideas and having smooth transitions.
About zoomers and plasmas, since we all know HCL's coding skill on these kind of effects, they were not surprising for me but great parts to watch. And they were definetely the best examples of their kind ever done.
About dithered vectors... I'm speechless. Maybe you can say "hey, Graham's vectors were also great". I agree. Who said I was able to speak when I've seen them? :) But HCL definitely improved that kind of vectors. Many faces rotating with high speed (much higher than I was expected), it's just incredible.
Another improvement is the dot rotator. It's nice improvement since this method is already on the edge. HCL, I was expecting a 321 plots torus but you failed ha? ;) jk.
Personal Thoughts:
Not only this demo but also some other X'2008 demos ruined my unreleased original effects :) That was great because now I have to work two times harder. Thank you for stealing my sleep :) And thank you for giving me higher targets.

Best demo or bestest demo? The debate will go on... Love the graphics, love the music. I'm not qualified to judge the coding but I liked the effects as well and some records always spikes the punch :)
... and also, this production works flawlessly with the 1541u which deserves a couple of thumbs up too!
I haven't watched many c64-prods, but watching the top 4 prods from X'08 was both fun and impressive. This one is clearly the winner: Apart from the incredible music and the (mostly) great gfx (but wtf for the brown hand!), I really like the zoom-scroller and the delay-plasmas. For a non-expert, it looked like this demo recycles alot of routines (plasmas). However, the info file tells me otherwise, so I shouldn't complain.
Endnote: I refuse to think about how they linked this demo. I simply refuse :)

My jaw has scattered a floortile!!!!!
Yes! Best C64 coderporn ever! I just watched it two times back-to-back and I can't believe it is 15 minutes, normally a that long of a demo would drag on, here it's just effect after effect. The first time I got to the end I was like 'WTF?' it can't be that 15 minutes has gone by already??!
The graphics, the music, the awesome transitions, incredible amount of work must have gone into this, and it shows!

Doesn't work on OC-168+C64 with S-Jiffydos, but RULEZ anyway ^^
I am not, by far, a specialist of C64, but I was not thinking that this could be even dreamt of on such architectures. Feels like a milestone in demomaking history.
w00t
I love the code, the graphics, the music, the transitions... but I don't like the endless sequences of plasmas and zoomers.
Please, give us a <10 minutes long director's cut version :)

Edge of Disgrace by Booze Design !
What Cosmocat said!
stunning!
Hype or not, this is amazing! It's actually the first C64 demo I wasn't tempted to escape after 2 minutes.
great!
Thumb up for the design and performance. Music is boring imo.
Fantastic!
Flows nice, and the music is absolutely brilliant!
So much greater than 3.
oh man this was cool!!! superb flow and demostyle perfection! those fx just keep on rocking in da demo style! :)
awesome flow, awesome effects, awesome art, good music, and most of all, the effects run fast :)
ooooo,booze-booze
Crazily fantastic stuff! This is on par with some of the Amiga 500 demos in my opinion. Please tell me that it's an animation replay routine.
Everything is cool, the code, the graphics, the music and the design. I'm not much into the C64 scene, but if there are other demos on the C64 that are just as cool, please point me in the right direction.

And the popularity algorithm looks like it could use a brush up, when 176 thumbs up gives it 1% popularity - what the hell is going on?
<3<3
d3pth: AFAIK, popularity comes from all-time page clicks. Nothing to do with thumbs.
Although i have no sense of proportion how slow c64 really is (never coded it, except some basic), this is manages to impress me. Usually i just fall asleep during c64 demos :)
best c64 demo ever
impressive!
A very impressive demo (in every department actually, code, music and graphics are all top notch). A real testament to any demo creator on any platform of what demo making is all about.
Totally awesome! Maximum respect!
no idea how technically akward it is - but it's a designwise kick in the nuts to the rest of the scene. superb flow!
Trop Maximum boulettes !!!
Roxxors my boxxors, now i can sell my C64
<3!
The scene is still alive!
Technical ownage, I really don't think the design/direction/music is as revolutionary as some people are making out though. I tend to agree that there might never be a demo like this on C64 ever again; how many people can spend 1 year linking a demo?
A bit too long for my taste but as far as I can judge there's some serious code in there. Also the graphics are really nice while the music has its ups and downs. Well done!
The live version gives me goosebumps and 2nd time round was even better than the first. Those transition effects are so incredible and slick. It really does show the effectiveness of linking demo parts together.
jo jo jo!!!
One of the best demo ever !
absolute powerful and stylish.
I love this demo, really !!
Thanks to the booze design for this masterpiece.
Nothing more to say.....

some of the 'stills' (girl<->robot) are a bit too tacky for my taste *but* other than that it's probably the most enjoyable c64 demo i've seen so far. awesome.
awesome!
Epic demo!
boring piece of shit. i'm usually more subtle, but this thing has way too much praise on here already.
E X T R E M E L Y - P H A T - P R O D U C T I O N
Not the best demo ever, since many of the greatest demos are too different too be comparable. But the best c64 demo of its kind, and I guess it will remain that way, unless HCL & CO are crazy enough to try and top this.
Great!
Love it
Insane!
Such great style and the details... holy shit!
Really outstanding!

wow...
Great stuff!
heilige scheiße. massiv.
woah
Jailbird is genius... part 2 is very nice
It's not really the effects. They mostly look like improved versions of old bd demo fx (also too much emphasis on plasmas and zoomers, imho).
It's the sheer amount of polish, the combination of transitions, pace and length that makes this demo great to watch.

thumbs
Stop doing this to me. I've to change my underpants now.
Well I usually don't watch C64 demos but this could have been Amiga stuff and C64 did it! :) *ducks*
Rules in every aspect. Before this I considered Mathematica to be THE demo of the c64, but now I think there's a new demo on the top of the list. Impressive coding indeed, HCL.
All these high quality demos at the same party is almost too much to handle. This one deserved the victory, but look at the demos of Oxyron, Horizon/Instinct and Xenon too...wow!

What the ffff..family...!
The transition effects alone deserve an avard!
An almost perfect demo per definition in all aspects.

one of the most beautiful demos ive ever seen on the c64. Some parts just blew me away. it made me laugh in a good way. keep on with this.
Awwww
Damn its good demo. First we got A500 going to 'pc territory' and now we have C64 going A500 'territory' :D <3
Wow, lots of effects and not just 'oh btw here's some plasma' but good implementations. Never once I felt bored while watching it.
Being a newschool lamer, I have no idea what is easy or difficult to do on a C64. Thus I usually find no joy in watching C64 demos. But this demo just blew me away. Awesome!
I fukkin LOVE that JAilbiRd Intro Logo.... i kind of wish that there was more variety in the effects but HCL made a good job of it here... well done mate.... now how about mixing this demo with pearls for pigs and amplifire and nw2?? ;)
It's a pure masterpiece! The 2D art is awesome, the music is really lovely and creative, and the rythmn always keeps maintained (which is really hard to achieve with C64 demos).
Damn fine piece of programming.
ZOMG
Those who missed the X-2008 demo competition (most of you ;) ): you missed true admirable scene spirit...
awesome. it's so fucking good
fein,fein..
Respect
Impressive
Edge of Awesome
Fucking great!!!
Top notch! Great gfx and what Archmage said about the soundtrack!
Woah, long but decent.
great!!!
holy fucking fuck!
This is bloody awesome.
very nice demo, yet there is little we have not seen before on c64.
18 cdc's are hillerious tho.

Lovely demo this! Transitions and the whole composition is great, the graphics are awesome!
Looks awesome! Really one of th best c64 demos!
Top notch.
This demo makes me want to be a better scener.
Very slick, probably more smooth and well presented rather than 'OMG'! Textbook example of how to do transitions well.
Edge of WHATTHEFUCK!
This is a very top notch C64 demo and probably one of the best demos in older hardware. God damn, even I'm not admiting that the effect show was one heck of a brilliant play there.

You win!
sooo great!
Brilliant.
The soundtrack isn't exactly my cup of tea style-wise, but this whole thing is just fucking excellent.
simply awesome!
Great c64 demo and a very great winnar even saw it got posted on the http://www.helgon.net/ forums by somone :p
Goode!
Love the effects, and the design is... wow. But I quickly got bored because it's just too long and I don't like the music at all. I feel sorry about this because I think it could have been one of the greatest demos I've ever seen, except it's not :/
!
I'll go wank on it tonight. Phuck, incredible. Awesome graphics. Nice music. Awesome design.
It makes me love the commie even more. Congrats.

Oh yeah, demos like this form the 8-bit religion!
LAAARGE exclamation mark
W O W! R E S P E C T!! A W E S O M E!!!
I am still listening to the music recorded in MP3 every night and watching this every morning I wake up :P
Wicked! I love every minute of it!
GREAT!

unbelievable unbelievable unbelievable
Excellent, thanks
Someone make a proper video from real hardware please!
Respect!

Insane! My deepest respect for this artwork.

everything describing this demo has been already said.
This is designed so well that I had to love it. Congratulations!
thats what i call a big demo, super!!
my younger brother likes EoD too. He watched part 1 on youtube and was very impressed.
Cool.
I think HOLY FUCKING SHIT is an appropriate response. Wow.
Seeing this is almost enough for me to just throw up my hands and stop coding.... almost ;-)

In case it wasn't obvious, I was heaping praise on the demo, not fuckings. That's hall of fame material.
wow ! really impressive effects and very good design :)
1mhz, 16 colours and 20 gigarulez
rules and kicks ass!
Insane. Coder pr0n. I will never ever write a single line of code again.
cool :)
holy SH*T !!!
milestone.
i think this demo will make changes in some demomaker minds. how they can create the demos, and how important the design can be.
i'm the on of them :)

good
good effort. must admit tho that my mind started wandering towards the end because of the length, but that's just me.
Cool demo, I think the fluent effects, lovefully arranged transitions, outstanding and stylish gfx + very interesting music work greatly together to let this be a release which brings some of the feelings back, that made the demoscene so great for me. It must have been awesome to have watched this during the compo. :)
It's amazing. I mean, some of these effects have been done before, but combining some of them and making them smoother, that surprised me almost the most! What really got me was the 3D scenes in the middle. I'm in awe at how fluent everything was presented.
Oh yeah, thumb!
respect
This is the Disgrace of the Edge! Some mindblowing experience, comparing to dawnfall back in 1995 or Think Twice II... after Cycle HCL was in a high pressure of quality... he succeeded ;) Greetings from GHANA
Fantastic!
:-)
jaw dropping
congratulations, EoD reached the 1st place of top10 for Commodore64.
not yet, it need at least 12% of popularity
wow
Buckethead, oh, really?
i said top10 of alltime top. not the popularity top as you think.
Woohoo! That's what I call a demo!
Very nice!
awesome!
especialy the fucking cool music ... c64 electro-house music \o/
especialy the fucking cool music ... c64 electro-house music \o/
i'm honestly not a humongous fan of the music.. it's like a bunch of different chorus/refrain sections stringed together, without many intermediate/warmup parts. and there is such a thing as too much swing tempo - it begins to lose its novelty. good music, not so great soundtrack.
respect! this is the shit in all aspects!
demo me beautiful
Stunning!
Amazing you ppl keep the c64 demo scene alive! much respect and always a joy to see how many ppl were touched by that great machine (i still keep mine, but i haven't turned it on in years....but i do miss that 1 second boot time!)
I agree with the comments 'massive!' and 'too many rotozoomers' (on the flip side) alike.
With all the 3D parts soo impressive, the whole demo so very enjoyable, this is a solid production without flaw. Big thumb! :)

Before I start with the songs of praise, here´s the criticism: (just repeating what others said)
Yeah, too many rotozoomers and to much plasma, but all wrapped in a fucking nice demo, so be it.^^
Now to the songs of praise:
Wow, I thought the times of such demos were gone, but I´m glad to see they aren´t.
Great design, graphics and as far as I can imagine it, the code must be pretty impressive ,too.^^
Special Kudos go to the music!!!
I would like to listen to it even without running the demo.
Any chance of linking the SID or making an mp3 out of it?
Would be a cool thing....

There's Dane, but no Mitch?
@skyrunner
Use WinVICE with "music recording" to record a wav-file while watching the demo. Everything else is self-explanatory.

gotta thumb up!!!
A milestone for sure. I'm also on the "too much plasma"-side, but the rest of the demo easily pays for that. Everything in here is really good, the flow is outstanding. And you really got my deep respect for pulling it out so decently after long 7 years! (and lost a bit of it again due to self-voting ;)). Anyway, here is the thumb, let's go for the AllTime-Top10.
what kb said. Best c64 demo ever.
great c64 demo! you guys rule
What Skyrunner said. Truly brilliant.
:)
Wow ... how can this be possible on a c64 ?
we live in a difficult world to be appreciated, and this demo brings stuffs.
Nice demo with good design and great gfx!
I especially like the the zoomer with vectorballs.
I especially like the the zoomer with vectorballs.
Haven't seen a C64 demo in a while, but was told to watch this one.
I can't really comment on individual effects code-wise as i haven't been following the c64-scene, but i did have a C64 for about 5 years in the mid 80's (which is where i got into demos in the first place), and the quality of the effects seems more in place on a A500 than a C64. Impressive.
The graphics looks very nicely done, especially from a technical perspective. Nice technique. Those Summer Glau cyborg motives does help give the demo a coherent theme.
..but what really sealed the deal for me was the music. I used to dig Sid tunes instead of A-ha and Duran-Duran when i was back in primary school and this one is quickly becoming a favourite. Like how it's structured. Pieces stuck together in a natural way not sounding patched, and it's maintheme kicking in at the right moments. My fav moment from the soundtrack must be around 8:30 leading up to (and especially during) the blue Monica Bellucci (?) zoomer.
Sorry for the rambling. Thumbs up for Dane and the rest of BoozeDesign for providing the chills in winter'08s. I'll be watching that scene more closely in the future.

Simply the best C64 demo... for the moment :)
Great. And I mean it. Won agains a strong and skillful competitors. Even if I love them, there are too many plasmas. But the design, well composed tunes, vectors, "desert-dream'-like scroller, and other thechnic stuff gave me goosebumps.
Thank you dudes for your effort. Thank you for your time and your sacrifice (I am saying that to the other demo competitors TOO) and patience.
A BIG THANK YOU to ALL of you!

Amazing !!!
This demo make it seem like there was a lost decade in the C64 demoscene. What a way to take off from where the old Gods like Crest left...
Actually, this demo should be THE new standard. So what if all has been done before? It's 50fps smooth almost all the way, zooms, textured surfaces, vector animations and all.
If it wasn't for the limited colours, it could have easily exceeded Atari ST standards. In fact, save for dull C64 colours, it touches on Super Nintendo standards, with that kind of smoothness.

Best demo ever on C64 ! Work fine on x64/VICE on Mac.
This demo has it all. Awesome graphics, effects and direction/transitions. I really admire your work

fucking insane
best EVER demo? no, why? because I believe there is more to come out of the 8 bit bread bin =) . This pushed the bar up... kudos to Dane, HCL , Jailbird though...I can't say it is the best ever demo... as I still think you can do even better =) (and it also means another demo.. win win.)
what everybody said.
Also da muss sogar ich mich nochmal hier einloggen und voten. Absolut krank. Bestes C64 Demo. Geil.
awesome!
excellent!
cool but a bit too long.
WOW!!! (no not the game) just wow!! what a demo, certainly this has to be the demo achievement of the year, the effects just keep on comming, gotta say i'm stunned, that chessboard in the beginning is soooo awesome, and did i just see a TBL like zoomer on a c64. For me this demo is the best this year on any system, pure class, phew :)
excellent
Hammer.
Seriously chmeriously!
SCHEIß DIE WAND AN, IS DAS SCHÖN!
Argh, moved my 8-bit CDC from Error 23 to this one ...
Very goof. Superb graphics!
Err... I meant very good! ;p
can someone mp3 that soundtrack for me? i'm lazy :)
em pee threeee
Thanks! :D
holy shit
thanks dane!
Great demo. Especially first side of the disk is awesome. Booze guys, you rock!
Best C64 demo I've seen so far. Actually, the best demo of all platforms I've seen in the last years. Love the music, great effects and gfx. Everything just fits.
Hands down.
I'm a thumb-saver, as it seems.
so much love for detail, I really appreciate that ! luv ya! :)

epic
man i must say that i've started to like the soundtrack more and more.
the whole thing... blew my mind
you cant help but be impressed by this. Attention to detail is great.
I enjoyed it quite a lot, but it's overrated and conceptually hollow -> piggy.
C64 pur power !!!
really great
SCHEISSE!
Epic, let it rise into the top 10 any platform list! And Dane.. WOW *Bows*
Holy sh.. wtf! That just blew my mind!!
Congratulations on your scene.org win!
So fucking awesome.
I saw "Terminator" for the first time this week (yep, it's true) and now this tune I already loved seems like an even bigger achievement.
Wow dudes, wow. Thanks.
Wow dudes, wow. Thanks.
Where's the beef?
This is all just shiny, glittery plastic packaging, but after you've unwrapped it, there's just another present inside. After 15 minutes of this, you've either given up or found out there was nothing actually inside.
Size-restricted categories aside, I expect of every demo that is longer than 5 minutes to have a story, a theme or a message. One quarter-hour of coderpr0n doesn't appeal to me. Either keep it short, or keep it interesting.

I love this so much. coder porn and great music.
InvalidCo, you explain your point very well, and it is kinda understandable. The problem is that you wait for something better to happen while that what is actually happening is all great.
If you expect a demo in a certain style (story, message, ...), then ofcourse you'll be disappointed. If you are familiar with C64 hardware, effects and demos, everything in there is beautiful and jawdropping.

Nice!
Really cool transitions but recycled code and too long... But a really nice one !
Hells yeah!
It would be nice if people got their facts straight instead of making insubstantial claims about code recycling. Please point out two parts which share the same code (even on a conceptual level).
Holy wow..!
Awesome.
@radiantx: that would be about all non-rot zoomers and plasmas. ;) then the chessboards, well basically most effects here concentrate around a few concepts and tricks.
anyway I see I havent commented on this here yet, so: awesome coding, design, gfx & music.

This kind of demos cause depression.. . .
Just watched it once again and I'm unable to figure out how those things were done or how they are so fast.. Respect!
music *__*
Donwload Link is broken !!!
Too long but it deserves a thumb up
ruulz
great!
rox!
technically excellent, but like others have said, 15 minutes of pure coderporn is a little too much.
WTF, no comment yet?!
1/0. This is impossible and the best C64 out there. Great music/gfx/transitions/everything!

just finished to watch this. usually i never watch c64 stuff but with so much cdc i said myself it couldnt be wrong. I suppose this is one of the top notch c64 demo.
Actually, this was pleasant to watch but its hard for me to give some rating. i dont know the technical limitations of the machine, what is possible or not, or how much powerful it is since i never code with it or even use it.i really like gfx and overall this was great (but a little bit long)

15 minutes of pure coderporn is NOT ENOUGH
Graphics, transitions, routines, music - all top notch. Easy to see loads of work went into this and when I first saw it I couldn't believe anyone could do that with a C64. Superb.
Phenomenal fireworks of effects!
Nice
:O :O
Remember seeing this for the first time, still remember how amazed i was :)
I think the youtube link may be of a different demo - there's NO WAY a c64 could do that
abso-bloomin-lutely phenomenal

Argh. I had this up my arse:
I can see months of hard work in this. This is really amazing piece of art.
a fabulous demo! every little details rocks! :)
A reference.
Superb work on the transitions by the way.

w00t!
God damnit, get it among top3 already!
Oufti, it's absolutly incredible ;)
Incredible!
Damn fine demo! Style, effects, transitions, music. All very well done.
Can't believe I never thumb'd this. MASSIVE respect. This demo is just ridiculous, in every possible good sense of the word. <3
amazing!
Nice effects and very awesome music
it has everything! and is done so well!
super long one here
Commendable soundtrack (especially the part starting at 3:05), but overall it was way too drawn-out for its own good, imo. I actually forced myself to sit through the entire demo; it shows that the authors have used every trick in the book, but demonstrating these tricks for like 10 seconds each, and then rehashing them endlessly over the span of 15 minutes is bound to bore me at some point. :(
Marvelous demo very well scripted with a great tune (even if a lot of C64 are far more impressive) !
Good.
Awesome, thank you !
Breathtaking. After watching this prod, there is no doubt in my mind that C64 is indeed the greatest (micro)computer ever made.
Not beaten yet!
still the best c64 demo!
Extremely impressive
It's just a bit long is all...
Ossom music.
I'm warming to the music - it get's better every time I watch this! <3
BEST C64 DEMO!!! WOOHOO!
THE BEST!
Amazing!!!!!!! :D
Best demo ever - all platforms!
Mind blown by the power of a thousand suns
Amazing :-)
Too long. Too many plasmas. Music is not my taste.
Still, entertains all the way :-)

what Sesse said.
407 upvotes, 17cdc and only #23 in all time top?.. that feels a little off
CDCs don't affect the all-time popularity list, only thumb ups and and the popularity meter (which is the limiting factor here) do.
With that said, even though this isn't anything close to my favorite C64 demos, it has some very enjoyable parts, extraordinary direction considering the platform, and is overall a supreme technical feat (though generally not something I personally look for), the thumb is long overdue and certainly warranted.

phew :) I never owned a C64, but wow, REGRETS!
The music is amazing.
The music is amazing.
oh yes
Perfect stuff!
Really fantastic music. Great Gfx too! A true C64 gem, that I've watched several times, but never got around to comment on :) Well deserved delayed thumb!
Obvious thumb somehow forotten.
boooooozeee
This.
impressive!
Excellent!
After watching it more than 100 times in a the past 6 years now, I feel i REALLY should give put my forgotten thumb here. Awesome in every respect.
What JAC! said.
Fantastic design and transitions. Excellent music and effects that would be expected from an amiga. Easily one of the best c64 demos ever.
Still great. Love it!
Quality prod with strong gfx, music and code. The rare 10+ minute demo you can watch over and over.
Nice!

Maybe I don't appreciate the technical feat or something, but it mostly bored me.

good
Seems like the excitment about this demo made me forget the thumb some 7 years ago... A milestone in demo making.
15 minutes of pure codepr0n, as it was commented above several times... :)
I should fetch the C64 from the cellar too watch it on real hardware
solid
Really really really awesome :)
boom
This demo never gets old.
Why does it never get old?
Its 14 minutes long damn it, and I never get tired of it.
Partly because of the music, the greatness of which has
only become more apparent with age...

great
one of the best c64 prods out there!
Absolutely amazing demo!
Top shelf stuff!
Now this is authentic demo spirit
Veeeeery late thumb up! The demo is just such a banger and was an awesome experience at the party.
Ok, I will hop on the 'late thumb' bandwagon. This is one of the only demos on C64 that will make me have goosebumps and enjoy as much as possible.
Vilka jävla kungar!
Still one of the best.
Incredible!
Well - once in a while something comes along that leaves an everlasting impression. In this case, I belive that everything has been said. The music carries this demo into the next decade. Its complete - and that doesnt happen often. All love to the people who made this.
Quite a show :)
I have no idea how I never saw this gem before. I am both ashamed and full of joy after watching it for the first time. What an amazing production on every levels, near to perfection.
C64 porn!
Quite boring, too long coz always the same effects showed again and again, and more too graphical. I call it a slideshow with some effects. Music is cool at the beginning but become boring after 6 minutes, No real kickass melodies.
it was fantasic, keep on!
