  but nowadays, java plugin complains and warns a lot if you don't sign a jar with an expensive certificate... I'm considering a javascript/canvas conversion someday...

  the speech module is much too rare to be used in a demo (and have a chance to be run on real hardware...). The 6bit DAC is a much more interesting option...
