• Can not go wrong with fractals and astronauts. Loved the atmosphere, lighting and the soundtrack. Need to watch this again when a video is available.

• I think the sluggishness is just poor programming (e.g. there are some serious issues with mipmaps on Windows), so I would not blame the browser for that :D
  
  Besides the demo uses a lot of browser features like 2D canvas for texture generation, and even CSS animated SVG graphics, so porting it to native code would need a lot of work. Not impossible of course, but we would rather spend that time making something new.

  You guessed it right! The tunnel and the car are indeed renderer as two separate passes and then merged. Some of the car's shaders include a simplified version of the same ray marching routine that is used to render the tunnel.
  
  The depth info from the car rendering pass is also used to prevent the tunnel rendering pass from drawing occluded rays behind the car. We have this dogma, that the demo has to run smoothly on my mac laptop. I know this prevents us from doing really complex scenes, but the goal is that you don't need a super expensive graphics card to run the demo.

  These guys were watching your seminar talk at Assembly last year about how you made The Legend of Sisyphus. It was very inspirational. I was thinking about it a lot when making this demo. That, and deepr's Just Demo It talk. It's a shame there are no videos of them for posterity.
