- intro SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive Bassfish by Speckdrumm [web]
- On my european Megadrive 2 the graphics are displayed correctly, but I get the same distorted audio as _-_-__. Sounds like what you get when you configure the FM operator "Total Level" values incorrectly.

- For music you could use TFM Music Maker or (shameless plug) XPMCK.

- intro SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive I Love Cube
- Couldn't get it to work on a real Genesis (Megadrive II).
In Gens there's no output at all (debugger says that it's stuck at PC=0x20032003, which is neither in ROM or RAM).
In Kega Fusion there's output but it's messed up:
Wasn't Genecyst written by the same guys who wrote Nesticle? If so I'd stay far away from it if you're looking for an accurate emulator. - isokadded on the 2009-05-17 11:23:06

- demo Windows Rupture by Andromeda Software Development [web]
- @Weasel: Nope. I could run it just fine on a GF7600 / XP. Doesn't work on my laptop though (GF7700 Go / Vista). The drivers on my laptop might be older though, I dunno.

- 4k Nintendo DS sd-4k by Speckdrumm [web]
- Well, yeah, they're very similar though. LZ77 is what it's called in gbatek, I don't remember what Nintendo themselves called it. An LZSS encoder is what I used for my test anyway..
The upside of using the BIOS functions is of course that the decoder comes prety much for free (kinda like with your D3DX "exploit"). But perhaps a well-crafted arithmetic decoder in Thumb assembly could best it even with the added footprint (fingerprint?? ha ha..h..oh fuck it) of the decoder routine. - isokadded on the 2009-04-21 18:13:17
- 4k Nintendo DS sd-4k by Speckdrumm [web]
- @MsK`: Just running the .nds through an LZ77 encoder (using the same dictionary size and threshold values as the DS's decoder uses) yields a file that's 3278 bytes. That's with the header being compressed as well, but even disregarding that, cutting 480 bytes just by LZ77 encoding the ARM binaries sounds reasonable. Maybe some of the code/data could be put in the header as well.. it's been a long time since I did anything DS-related :P
I can't really make a fair judgement of the prod itself since I've only watched it in no$gba, and the colors look pretty bland there. But it's nice to see some 4k action on the DS. - rulezadded on the 2009-04-21 17:37:21
- 64k MS-Dos/gus Gustar by Camorra
- Yeah I remember this. It was pretty neat back then.
What was that other demo that tweaks the VGA registers to the point of not working in DOSBox (at least it didn't use to iirc)? - rulezadded on the 2009-04-20 09:58:23
- demo Windows Conscious of Blue by SystemK [web]
- For some reason this was shown among the crap entries at the beginning. I remember when I saw this demo on the stream I thought "Oh, now the real compo begins.." (which of course turned out to be wrong).
It's a solid demo imo. A bit mellow and slow-paced. None of the effects made you go "Wow", so I guess that's why it didn't place higher. - rulezadded on the 2009-04-17 08:19:17
- demo MSX 2 Syntax Infinity by Tulou [web] & Traktor [web]
- @abscess: Hah. Well, I don't remember ever defending GB music. In fact, a lot of it *is* crap. 2A03 and SID FTW!
