a log2 for competitions? i think this will always shift too much into one direction! no way! good idea, just the algo should be more advanced i guess! ;)

I like kb's idea a lot, but I reckon you'd have to do it blind and not reveal file sizes (or platforms) until after the voting is over. Either do it at a party, release everything as video, or require all submissions to be accompanied by a Windows exe version padded with random data up to a specified fixed size. :-)
