The Gathering 2012 stream
category: parties [glöplog]
Good non-TG people of the demoscene, whether you be at Revision or at home,
As in previous years, The Gathering 2012 is hosting a wide array of creative compos, and we're streaming it live for your enjoyment. However, we acknowledge that even though we have obscene amounts of free bandwidth from the party place (currently ~190 Gbit/sec free), the Internet does not always work that way, so we've set up an external reflector in France for the benefit of our viewers not in Northern Europe.
You can view the schedule at http://www.gathering.org/schedule, and the stream at http://stream.tg12.gathering.org/. (TL;DR on the schedule is that the compo show starts 20:15 CEST on Friday and 20:00 CEST on Saturday. That's 18:15 and 18:00 UTC.) The stream page tries to autodetect the best relay for you (the one in the hall, or the one in France), but you can also override it should you find that the other works well.
We strive to bring you the highest quality stream possible, and for that, we need your feedback if anything should go wrong. There's contact information on the stream page, but we'll also try to monitor this thread. In particular, we'd be very interested in yea/nay on if the external stream actually fared better for you -- it's a test project, and it would be interesting to know if it's a worthwhile addition or if we should rather spend our resources elsewhere.
Enjoy the rest of your demoscene Easter!

When is the demoshow :)
At what time does the demo compo start?
Freestyle video is now. I _think_ 4k/64k is after that, and then demo. So my guess is that demo is in about half an hour.
Demo is NOW.
Thanks for the stream! Had a lot of glitches during freestyle vid, but the intro/democompos ran smooth as ever.. Likely way better than they would have with any of the computers I have :)
Thanks! :)
thanx
as i was on Revision i diden't saw this but will download and watch some prods later after i built my new pc done
any remarkable demos at tg?
yeah, where are teh demos from TG? and intros?
@nosfe: the winning demo (by Gammel Oppland af 1891) was quite cool.
As is custom for parties where I'm responsible for compos (meaning all Norwegian parties :P) we give those who request it a week to complete finals before we publish the party versions.
In other words, all TG demos and intros will be available from ftp.scene.org/ftp.gathering.org at latest on Saturday 14. April.
