It's a scene related announcement announcing the first scene archive on DVD (that I know of). Anyone who collects artpacks, emags, loaders/cracktros should take notice. You know, those same things listed under "Prods" here on Pouet? :)
Besides that, if it were SPAM it might be trying to increase your penile measurements or something, haha...
Back to work.

P.S. Alot of people have been asking who designed the cover and CD, it was made by none other than Lord Jazz.

yeah, don't post ads on the bbs! it takes away precious space from the senseless drivel and rantings that we've come to expect from pouet.
cripes, if he wants to post about a scene-related product, let him. it's not like the news section ever gets updated.

But then again, the severe lag in Pouet's news updates have really helped drive home those downloads for our October release of ACiD View 6.1. ;-)

artpacks rule, forget the lamers who dont understand this ;)
flaming an advert for dogfood or something irrelevant like that here i could understand, but surely this is something a lot of people want to know about? People will be flaming groups for advertising their prods in the database next...
There is a DVD giveaway on EFnet in #ASCIIcompo today at 17:00 GMT (one hour from now) for a live ASCII competition. Come visit. :)

The Dark Domain http://www.acid.org/acidgear/dvd.html shipping and handling charges have been fixed for International/European orders. My experience throughout all this is that PayPal sucks. :-)
But in any case, freight costs are now on par with the Canadian/Mexican orders for those who are interested. :)

Just out of curiosity, where are the profits going?
Theyre going towards a retirement home for all the retired and washed up sceners.
why are can/mex and eur/intl version more expsensive, when there is extra freight cost??
oner: That has been fixed. I think it's a difference of 25 cents now so it's nothing to cry about. ;-)
Also, www.darkdomain.org now accepts orders from any country around the world. We're no longer limited to the select countries of PayPal.
Hooray.

but demos are distributed free, your selling them and making a financial profit.
not being negative but every author who's work is featured on that DVD is in a legal position to sue you. Unless of course you have permission. hmmmm???

ok no demos, i guess i should have read your site first, but still artpacks would fall under copyright would they not?
that has been discussed a lot in the artscene channels on irc, but i can't actually remember anything about it so nevermind :)

I don't feel the need to defend myself, but I would like to make a statement about what you're implying.
$4898.38 was sunk into the professional production of the Dark Domain artscene DVD. That doesn't even begin to account for the ungodly amount of time spent collecting these historical files since the late 1980s, then hosting artpacks.acid.org in 1996 and then the last 2 years of actively pursuing heads of artgroups to make sure an official and complete set of their artpacks is offered to the public on this DVD.
The purpose of this DVD is to ensure that the Artpacks Archive as a complete work survives beyond the small handful of FTP sites that exist today.
If I ever make a profit, everyone here will be the first to know. :-P
