Gargaj: we make it plenty clear that they can get all of the stuff online for free if they want. Most of the people we reach in this manner are not technically savvy enough to drill down through the massive scene.org archive to find the demos. Getting the demoshow CD into their hands is the best way to get them involved. Having them donate $5 to us is the best way to allow them to help support the scene locally. All the money we raise in this manner goes back into the scene, since it goes to our nonprofit whose only purpose is to educate people about the demoscene and hold demoparties.

Gosh, I never realized my planned outreach show would only serve to bring the scene over the edge of mainstream commercialism and ultimate destruction. I mean, shit, the theatre I'm hoping to use seats a whopping 350 people. That's almost half the world's population, give or take a few hundred million.

In all seriousness, let's keep this extremely minor event in perspective...
I dunno if we're still doing the sceners-making-games thing, but Jeffrey Lim (Pulse of Impulse Tracker fame) is working for WebFoot now. He coded for a couple Dragon Ball Z games on the GBA, along with Pascal (ex-Toxic Zombies and recent support on MindCandy). Stalker did music for the first DBZ game and Yannis tracked for the second one. I'm sure half the GBA/mobile game industry will be ex-Amiga/PC sceners before too long. :)
