BBC4's 'Electric Dreams' season on TV recently
category: general [glöplog]
The BBC, here in the UK, have been showing an interesting season of programmes called 'Electric Dreams'. Within the season, a number of standout programmes have appeared which I reckon are worth watching. They are as follows:-
Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe - Reviews of old and new games from this popular writer and broadcaster in the UK.

Micro Men (drama-comedy about the battles between Sinclair, makers of the Speccy and Acorn, makers of the BBC Micro)

The links given are available for a limited time via the BBC's iPlayer service, at the time of writing. If you're wishing to watch this from outside the UK, you will need to do something about finding a suitable proxy that allows you to watch the shows.
If you want to download these to watch them at a limited time & don't want to bother with DRM stuff, then the site at http://www.binsearch.info is your friend here. Just input which programme you want. You will need to have access to binary usenet servers though and use some program like Grabit, which can deal with NZB's.
There probably are torrents available, but I don't use those since I picked up my usenet subscription some time ago :)
Whilst it is true that none of the programmes have mentioned the demoscene in any way, shape or form, they are interesting enough, I feel, to sceners who want to know more about the history of home computing in the UK and the pioneers, like Sir Clive Sinclair and Sir Chris Curry.
Micro Men in particular is very funny and entertaining and the same with Gameswipe.
Enjoy !!!
