I think a suggestion like this has been made before, but how about simply not allowing new users to start threads? Like, users with no glöps, no BBS-replies, no comments, no nothing, because that would surely discourage fakeusers from "joining" Pouet. Weren't there about 5000 users on Pouet that never did anything? Purge, I say..

what if it encourages people to spam prodthreads instead?

extra rules like that never fix anything - they just move the problem elsewhere. that said, i don't think there is a real problem at all right now, so what exactly are we trying to fix?

also, those 5000 users have, by definition, never done any harm. why purge them?

I spend too much time on posting stuff to the random image thread. Everytime I write the same bbcode over and over. In the "post a new reply" box, it would be really nice to have 2 buttons, a "insert url tag" and a "insert img tag". Not that this will make me spend my time any better. Dunno if its good.

Feature suggestion: change the bbcode to something with very long and complicated syntax and no firefox plugin. I predict a sharp drop in the number of random image posts, and a rise in the number of demos.

Actually, I think we seriously need a NEW and BETTER pouët. I mean that'd be cool to be able to access a certain product as such:

thats just a silly url rewrite, should be no problem to do without any modifications to the existing code base

that sounds like a pretty easy add, in fact.. cool idea, btw! (gargaj, if you've never looked into it i can drop you a mod_rewrite that does most of the trick - it's pretty basic but still)

You don't have to change any of the already existing code, just add a lame script. And I really can't see why it's needed. Except for bloggwhores.

skrebbel: i did modrewrite tricks several now, its just that i fucking hate the current codebase since maintaining it is hard already. i already started pouet2, as soon as nvision and function are over maybe i can continue with it.
