Hey all, since there are so many different-minded people here I figured out that there must be a pretty wide music taste, and therefore a wide knowledge of bands.

I'm looking for music similar sound to this sample.
It's by one of my favourite bands, Opeth, which is a progressive death metal band with lots of inspiration from old prog rock - some of their music is very brutal, and suddenly all mellow and beatiful.
The song is called "To Bid You Farewell", this sample is of the mellow part. The full version is on youtube, but I'm looking for music specifically like this sample.

I tried searching for old prog rock, but there's simply too much crap to find the gold-nuggets, so I wonder if there's anyone that knows anything similar? Wah + delay + reverb = win.

Not really the same thing but this sample reminded me of it. Maybe you'll find something of value here. The song is "Shine on you crazy diamond" by Pink floyd and it is a really long one with several parts. You can find it in the album "Wish you were here".

Try to look for very long playing Polish prog band SBB, and their great song: Wojownicy Itaki. Also try other prog bands from my country: Riverside, Quidam, Let Me Introduce You To The End...

The first two King Crimson albums are awesome if you like proggy rock ballads.
