Tips for processing demokit

I'm messing with the processing demokit for a few months now, but I still have almost no idea how to use it properlly.
For example, I tried to implement a sinus scroller I found online (https://discourse.processing.org/t/making-a-sinus-scroller/580), but it's not showing on screen.
I'm aware the kit is a bit old (it has commits to migrate to version 3... we're in version 4 now) and a little buggy, but I know I can make something a bit neat with it.
Is there any way for me to improve my "writer's block"/avoid any technical mishaps?
