Best 8 bits demoscene presentations for the layman?

category: general [glöplog]

Modern demos aren't very technically challenging (*), on the other handjob they often are great works of art. Anyone can enjoy Monolith.

On other other hand, the appeal of old-school demomaking is harder to demonstrate (ah!) to friends or dates.
That is the hallmark of true art, by the way: it requires initiation!

Do you know of any page giving a good appreciation of 8bits art, for the outsiders or even complete computer illiterates?
Ideally with embedded exemples and comparaison with stuff that just limit itself to stock constraints.
E.g. for CPC, Roland in Time vs Prehistorik II.

Well, these pages don't compare or explain much but they provide good examples of 8-bit art to demonstrate to a newcomer:

Hope they helped a little bit! :)

The Oldschool demos for people who don't like oldschool demos list is probably somewhat relevant here

That worked, thanks! Bobs record took a whole new meaning. Which is quite old as a matter of fact.
