if that doesn't work, perhaps you could give more details on which demos you have tried, what happened when you tried to run them, how are you running them (disk images? hard drive?) and what settings you are currently using.

For OCS (Amiga 500, i.e. virtually all the old stuff), use quickstart and select model A500, use the default "most common" configuration, and pull the compatibility slider all the way to "best". It will let you know if you don't have the required kicstart ROM image. Maybe add an external drive (DF1) for convenience with multi-disk demos, most other demos still work. Play with host options (display, etc.) to your liking, they don't affect core emulation.
