SpringTracker
category: music [glöplog]
Hello folks,
I'm happy to present you SpringTracker.
If you are reading this, you probably know what a music tracker is.
SpringTracker is many things:
- an oldskool mod tracker, like ScreamTracker or ProTracker
- an experiment, to see if "it can be done"
- a divertissement on the theme of writing a mod tracker, because I had fun coding it
- a mix of old concepts from another tracker (never released) that I wrote in the 2000s, like using DSP effects as pattern commands
- a mix of relatively new concepts, like saving and loading directly from the cloud
You can use SpringTracker freely, but, in order to save, you need a username and a key (that I'll give away for free as well to who wants to play with it. Just write me an email - dantonag (at) gmail.com).
The tracker should be compatible with major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE Edge, etc.), but was tested (and is fast) mainly with Chrome.
This is the main URL:
http://www.dantonag.it/springtracker/spring.html?splash=Y
If you want to hear a mod tracked by me (warning: it sucks badly):
http://www.dantonag.it/springtracker/spring.html?user=friol&loadmod=DemoSongNumberOne.st
and press F7 to play it.
Have fun.

Can't get sound out of it (pattern play/play by order).

@1in10: at the moment, the only way I have to test it on OSX is via Browserstack (https://www.browserstack.com) and it works there (Safari 9.1 / El Capitan).
Will do some debug later on iOS. Why don't you try it on Chrome in the mean time?

Works on 10.8.5 + Opera 37 for me.
Cool idea! :) But feels a bit sluggish to use; little bit of latency between keypress + response that I'm not used to.

@jmph: at how many FPS is it going? If it falls below 60, it may become slow (but works perfectly with Opera 37 on Windows).
