REVISION 2011

category: parties [glöplog]
would replacing The Gathering with a large party bus to germany be an option?..

Scene.org awards are overrated anyway.
I always used it as an excuse to grab a beer and go out to the bonfire \o/

Would either party be able to host 1500+ sceners in one location?

If necessary? Both, actually :) And concerning a combined-party demo compo: That'd be a nice idea but a) the compos are a day apart and holding the main compos at a common date would make the Sunday at Revision quite boring (So, prize giving is over, one day left, have fun doing... whatever) and b) There would be SO MUCH synchronisation necessary between the two parties that this would keep a sizeable portion of both orga teams busy for days and furthermore nobody has ever though of any tools and practices for facilitating that task. Would be a challenge, yes, but one where I can perfectly understand that nobody has taken it so far. :)

Undertaking insanely complicated tasks somewhat seems to be the trademark of the scene. If anyone should be able to pull it off - we're the one's I'd place my bet on.

I see the problem with the dates and - as pointed out - the logistic madness the two organizing teams would have to go through, but I'm not saying it should be some joint venture from day 1. In 2012 - a single compo (perferably one of the "easy" ones like streamed music or such) could be synchronized between the two parties. If that works out, 2013 could go for more and harder compos - that way, the parties would have several years to deal with the date-issues. TG needs to expand duration rather than Revision cutting off a day. We're old farts now - we need a day or two to get in gear, so 4 days is ideal :)

Since im not nominated for anything the scene.org awards isn't really an issue - I mean its great and all, but i'd rather be there when a cool intro is shown for the first time, than when someone is given an award for making one a while ago :)

I'm going with the danes, obviously, but if I had to make my own choice i'd go for the party with the best prods and most international vibe.

Punkt. Pls have in mind that TG had like 50 people watching scene awards :) while BP had 1.500 in the live audience.
1.5 or 1500? either value is wrong.

Will scene.org awards be hosted on revision now that it is officially announced?

Scene.org website announced the move of the awardshow from germany to norway quite some time ago ;-)

dwarf: i've only made crap just like all the other biatches, however, i was smart enough to make it so long ago on a platform so obscure that people lazily mistake it for being cool somehow, upto the point of inviting me to mumble some words on stage just before fairlight get their umpteenth statue. hell, if it wasn't for all those anklepanted danes, i would simply admit i suck :p

ffs. dwarf - as if the point of my post was to demonstrate my mad skills in remembering actual audience counts.

the point was that the remote audience count at tg was two digit while the live audience count at bp was perhaps four digit.

The remote audience was remote, and could just as well watch on their own computers as in a common area.
That being said, we've had way more than 15 people gathered for the scene.org awards show. Not close to 1000 though :)

Has a compo ever been held across two or more parties? Would require a little networking and expansion of upload-systems, but apart from handing over physical prizes, I don't see why it shouldn't be possible. That way, easter would definately be the scene world cup :)

Everything kb said, and that's only technical execution.

In addition to that you would have to have a heap of political issues. Unified rules is probably workable, but preselection and distribution of voting power is harder, and a distribution of prizes that both parties would be satisfied with is probably near impossible.
I'm sure there are other issues which I'm not able to identify on an early morning as well :)

And this is without even touching on the subject of whether the two (competing) parties actually want to have combined compos. From where I stand it's hard to see why either party would desire combined compos.

While I like the idea and don't know why it should not be desirable to combine compos of different parties, the fact remains that it's two different parties with different focuses and a different audience that happen on the same date. I'm sure that the technical problems are managable, but as lug00ber said - the political and organizational efforts will make this nearly impossible.

In addition to that - if we should combine all the productions of both parties, we might end up with a lot of disqualified entries because we'll have the same amount of time to show a lot more entries.

So - for the groups and people participating - two parties seem better (in my head at least).

Also, I think of the scene.org Awards as the "unified" demo competition that includes productions of all parties. Although there might be room for optimization in that part.

But you are broadcasting the Scene awards show at SUPER-DUPER-FULL-HD-QUALITY to Revision right? (Forgive my ignorance if this allready has been confirmed)
