Melon. sucks
category: general [glöplog]
Melon WAS my alltime favourite demogroup since ages, but since two or three days I think they are the MOST ROTTEN bunch of LAMERS ever.
proof:
It's a picture painted by an artist called "Robert Williams" and EXACTLY the same picture as the auto-claimed "original hand draw" picture "Acid Trip".
SUCKS :(
kill your idols.

the "Acid trip" by (haha) Walt & Mack:

Rez has been one of my favourite oldfart for ages, but since last year I began to think he is a bunch of lamers on his own :(

Oh GOD!! YOU MEAN TO TELL ME GRAPHICIANS RIP OFF BORIS VALLEJO????
lol! ^_^
lol! ^_^
Well I just watched ENTIRELY your "nocopy" url and this particular picture isn't mentioned...
i know, i'm just pointing out it shouldn't be such a shock if you discover scene artists having copied "real" art :)
No, of course I know tons of people are stealing pics of course :)
But I am REALLY disapointed with this one because they claimed everywhere that pic was hand drawn, and they won at a party with this pic...
Also, the major part of the "nocopy" picture are handpixeled even if it's a copy, the Acid Trip picture is just a scan converted into b&w 640*512 16c (Amiga's hi-res) picture... 1 minute of work !

please someone do a diff so that we can know whether or not it's hand drawn :)
Can't say I'm surprised when you think about who you're dealing with here. But at least they were original enough to copy/scan something else than Boris. Sure had me fooled.
Ahem.
Btw, I decided not to release the entries because they are (surprise, surprise) copyright infringements.

do you realize that the pic above was made on deluxe paint on a pixel basis ?
have you ever seen Walt sitting next to you drawing with deluxe paint ? that is an amazing experience, no scanner needed, trust me :D

We often name-drop boris vallejo and al, another influence is Carlos Nine. (For RA especially)
Hmm, I always had a feeling that picture was too good to be true.
I compared the 2 pictures, and there are a few small differences in the background, like the clouds over the moutains in the top right... maybe it's just quick alterations, or maybe the picture was first traced on a piece of paper...
Evil: If you look at the picture, it's obvious it wasn't fully pixelled.

exocet: or maybe it was scanner artifacts :)
Well, although I understand where rez is coming from, copying a picture can be a good experience and can help you become a better artist.
Still, I think the 2D artists ("graphician" is SUCH an ugly word) of the scene ought to make a note whether it's a copy or not - if nothing else, then to give credit to the original artist.
The ones who write "No copy" when it's actually a copy, will always lose at least my respect....

once Walt got flamed like 16 years ago on RTEL because everybody though he scanned a pic too, so he sent (in a "send disks+stamps back" basis) 12 floppies with all stages till final result to everyone who wanted them...
just so you know
just so you know

so what does that prove? creating in between steps from a finished picture is much easier than the other way round... ;-)

No... if you look carefuly there's a lot of stuff that isn't aligned in both images, like the grenade like thingy on the left. The tie and jacket also look diferent...

listen up kid... you don't know who you're talking to, right? lemme tell you... in my years in this scene, i've copied more than enou... hmmm wait... let me rephrase that... i've pixelled more than enough pictures to know which way is the quickest... seriously- creating steps from a finished pic is at least 3-4 times faster than painting all original :-)
