Bincoin mining & GPUs

of course the interesting part is "return to the mean" , where the speculation noise has turned down and where the actual innovation is made ;)

how do you know they never fact-checked

When someone says "I read this somewhere, I forget where, I only know what I read" while they're spreading obvious falsehoods, that's one sign.

When people use direct quotes from groups or persons that have a religious belief that conflicts with bitcoin. I mean religion literally here - the Dutch Calvinists, for example, had a religious objection to personal wealth, and spread disinformation about flowers. Everyone who brings up the fabled "Dutch Tulip Bubble" has failed to research, and fallen for this.

Anyone who copypastes a wall of text as says something like "pretty much" or "this proves it". They probably haven't even read through that wall, just got it from their personal authority. (I don't mean to single out Adok here)

When they use the same tired, old, disingenuous arguments that we see literally year after year. Lies like "bitcoin has inflation because they just make more" or "it's all controlled by one guy, it's a Ponzi scheme" or a dozen others. I've been following this stuff since literally 2010, there are people trying to recruit you to lie for them.

the Dutch tulip bubble was in 1637, not literally 2010!
and as Dutch atheist.. i have nothing against cryptocurrencies. currently it is perfectly mimicking a market system including an obvious bubble due to a media-hyped demand. whether or not it will stabilize eventually and become a serious contender to conventional currencies is just as speculative as people saying it won't.
Yes, Maali, the Dutch Calvinists were spreading their propaganda four hundred years ago. For some reason people keep spreading their lies now. I don't know why.

something that happened 400 years ago should be pretty factional by now, like literally factional... how can that be a lie? :P
I am not a believer in authority. I am aware that I quoted an "expert" in this thread once but I have never claimed that just somebody being an "expert" implies that he or she is always right.

And since 2014, I'm a member of the Atheistic Religious Society in Austria.

Adok, my man. I see you have an urge to explain yourself here. This might be the sign that you are a victim of online bullying.

On the topic though...

It is most likely that these two approaches can be combined together, resulting in massive SIMD processing power without dissipation of energy. That would be ideal for cryptocurrency mining, (...)

Of course Kurzweil also writes about Quantum Computing, a concept I am a bit more familiar with already. It is true that Quantum Computing will, on the long run, be the greatest revolution of all.

That is way too much speculation at the edge of bullshit.
Firstly, I hope you understand that BQP != NP unless P = NP.
Secondly, SHA256-based proof of work has actually little to do with prime factorization, which is the only "big" problem so far known to be in BQP.

Bitcoin is the pin, not the bubble.
