Um. So I give you my specs and you tell how much RAM I'll have after I install OS xyz? Well, nice if you can. I can't...
Quote:
I got 3.5gb on XP MediaCenter and Vista 32 (with a 512mb ATI card)... I've seen others get up to 3.7gb available. Many only get 3.3gb, and others get only 3gb...

And I know that it's not a mystery, but missing knowledge. Anways.
rare: maybe something /pae related?
Just finished installing and updating Windows 7 now. Tested a few demos, but a lot seem to fail. "inflorescence" gave "no error" then quit, and both the safe and non-safe version of "texas" failed as well. I'll try some more tomorrow.
gloom: try with vista compatibility. or even xp.
unic0rn: Didn't help on "inflorescence", but "texas" ran fine in Vista compatibility-mode. I also tried "debris", "lifeforce", "1995" and "route 1066" which all ran fine in that mode.
So far, I must say that even though I didn't think I would, I'm starting to like Windows 7.

Which build are you using, Gloom?
lordgraga: I'm using the 64bit version released in december last year (the official one). I'm getting the RC from Technet in a few days and just install that (I'm waiting with filling up the system with the software I want to since I'll be installing the newer build later anyway).
K, gotta have some fun with that leak then (if I have time).
..or not - http://www.neowin.net/news/main/09/02/20/exclusive-windows-7-rc-set-for-april-10th-2009 - looks like I'm going to have to start building the environment now anyway and hope that there will be an upgrade option to the Release Candidate. :)
