Revision 2013
category: parties [glöplog]
Yay! Announcing seminars would be great! I missed some of them.
Yeah, sorry for the lack of seminar announcements. It happened countless time one of us Beamteam guys looked at the screen with the big clock and the timetable on it and realized "oh, another seminar already running. Damn" because we were too busy either preparing competitions or having our self proclaimedly well-deserved break. We really need to find a solution for this.
Also, Gargaj: The beam system didn't really fail more often than in the previous years, but thanks to now having light and sound and video and all that, it did so waaaay more spectacularly. But I'll fix the two bugs we identified (eg. it seems Media Foundation isn't too tolerant against device loss), and we'll see if we can get the whole thing more idiot/drunk orga proof :D
Anyhoo. Personal thanks go to:
- The rest of my team and especially Acryd and Tobi for knowing exactly what to do when and all the great ideas to make stuff 20% cooler. This was the smoothest orga experience I've ever had \o/
- The compo teams for the perfect preparations and especially the oldskool squad for the recordings. Seriously, they just look beautiful,
- The network team for providing the stable foundation to work on, and for fixing all issues scarily fast
- All the other orgas that I haven't mentioned yet for seemingly doing their job so well I didn't recognize ;)
... and first of all: All of you who were there. I got a bit old and grumpy in the last year (not entirely separated from the last two Revisions' compo quality, I must confess), but the last week totally reassured me why I'm still doing this and why I love it. You're fucking awesome.

Also about the seminars: not calling 4kb seminars to the 10 minutes seminars would be nice.
acryd: I _want_ (and i really want) the hd version of the amiga intro one.. but you can get that to me privately if it's too big for whatever upload place :)
I just realized that this years revision had a fucking huge bunch of totally awesome releases - that's fucking great!
Thank you all, for all those awesome productions!

I'll have to print that for next year. ;)
network was really smooth this year - no single complaint form visitors regarding electricity or (w)lan-connection during my shifts at the infodesk afaik. also our booking system never failed during my shifts. Big up for that!
i would like to know why the media facade compo was left out of the official results.
i thought i was taking part in a competition that was part of the revision 2013 demoparty, apparently it was not so?

nosfe: A simple guess: the results were not in the partymeister system, from which the results.txt are dumped (I remember doing this error with a fun-compo thing back one year at TRSAC)
Nosfe: you're right, I forgot to add them to the results file. I'll correct that tomorrow.
on the note of compos, was there any point to hide the author names in music compos when you offer the tagged files for download afterwards? and why bother doing that for music if you don't for graphics?

That's also something that quite confused me.
@Knoeki and others: I uploaded the same set of photos on my Flickr account to get rid of this "Content not available" Facebook problem. Enjoy! http://www.flickr.com/photos/argasek/sets/72157633160520916/
Very nice pics, thanks for those!
Thumbs up - this was a great party!
Also kudos to the network team - there was a minor but pretty strange network problem and it didn't take long for someone to appear at our table, dig down into the internals of the network and finally fix the issue.
However the hotel situation could be improved: Breakfast is included but also ends at 10 o'clock - fine for majority of travellers but not for sceners - you can't get 2nd stage party, enough sleep and breakfast at once that way. Well, they didn't throw people out at 10 o'clock but nonetheless when we fill entire hotels that would be mostly empty normally wouldn't it be possible to for them to make an exception?

hArDy, huh? since when do you consider an expression of opinions without any personal attacks a "rant"?
Kabuto: are you talking about Hotel Crystal? I can try to talk to them for 2014.
Again - totally awesome party as usual.
But: I remember one thing that I found rather disrespectful and annoying:
I hope the next time the asshole who was using a laserpointer during the amiga demo compo & pc demo compo gets caught and treated PROPERLY.

Yep. Also, even if I did get my laptop charger back, I found the whole thing quite disturbing since someone actually took something from my place and took it away. It's never happened to me at a party. If I'm not there, feel free to borrow my charger or chair or even my computer for all I care, just don't take them anywhere.
What Kabuto said is entirely true. We had to stay at a hotel this year (B&B) but partying like hell and still getting breakfast is not possible. I tried it twice and was even more wasted than staying directly in the venue.
Solution for 2014: Book without breakfast/skip it (i felt a bit schwäbisch and wanted to get my free breakfast thus i was so wasted)
or.
Stay at the fucking party! Makes more sense to me plus they had better toilet paper than most hotels.

Preacher.... that is sad...
I always tell everybody, that at demoparties the people would rather add something to your stuff, than taking away anything. Sad to hear that...

Ho fuck yeah, I was about that but didn't searched the "source" myself because I didn't want to got my retina burned (sadly that occured with the Kewlers demo).
^^^ I accidently some words :(
the manly tactic is arriving back at the hotel at 6am, going for breakfast at 8am, and then sleeping till 3 pm :)
