Wow. It actually never occurred to me that you could detect edges and use different converters for flat and high-contrast areas. Now I feel like trying a couple new converter ideas.. ;)
Any results?
yay! super tight top 3 indeed.
nice idea to add jury (?) comments into the results file. :)

Yup, those are the jury comments.
That's one of the things that has come to define TMDC over the years. Not only it's a juried online compo, which is pretty rare in itself, but you also get some constructive feedback. (or at least, we strive to being constructive).

Yay...after reading sth like "results will be out in the first quarter of 2018" i feared it would take some more weeks...but there they are now! :)
Barzoule+Jury: Thanks again for everything! ♥
Gentleman: about your prod-comment on our Textmo:
tEiS reworked the tune in 3 Days...but it is about 20 years old by now, so he couldn´t repair some broken samples i guess! ;) It was even more raw before he retouched it! ;)
Sol: WOWzers! I really really dig your Textmo! Splendid job on all fronts there! I wonder what you come up with next, now that you realized that thing about the contrast!
Now i really hope TMDC will continue somehow...atleast me would be all into releasing every year again now...now that i had some Textmo-fun again finally! :)

Phooh, got the making of for the demo written. Still have textfx8 and munray to clean up and release. But those will have to wait for later..
Much appreciated, sol :)
Thanks for the write-up, Sol!
I didn't even realize it was an actual raytracer, although it makes a lot of sense, rewatching it.

Cool making of!
I remember spending time in the past calculating look up tables using brute-force, what else? but I wanted it to fit into cache memory so never got it beyond 128K.
My making of can be summed up by not sleeping a whole night and recycling the tech from previous TMDC. I wrote the music previously as an experiment, never though of actually using it.

I've finally managed to release both the raytracer sources as well as TextFX8, so I can lay this project to a rest..
It might be somewhat old news, but it still is awesome news!
