Streaming is quite a bit cheaper than distributing music (in releases), so yeah, paying the GEMA fees for a live gig that we just stream is quite doable. (Paying the distribution fees for a GEMA member's music is not.)

Also - we pay for the music acts as those costs are quite affordable this year (less than 1.000EUR for the whole thing). Getting the license for all our competitions would be around 7.000 EUR. As long as we don't have a generous sponsor paying for exactly that (after all other costs are covered) we just can't allow registered musicians to take part in the competitions.
