Another solution: Download the entire internet, and delete the content after consuming it.

I agree with kusma, in theory. However, that download would take them at least a week, maybe two. Not sure if that is acceptable for these l337 guys.

petethewolf: im unfamilliar with this "adok" character of which you speak
Optimus Knight: Memory can fail you at times aswell, just the other day a friend suggested
i should see the movie "Rushmoore" if i hadn't already, turned out i actually had seen it just forgot about it :)
Decipher: Sorry if the format was intimidatingly scientific, i most certainly
have no scientific data to back my ideas, just musing here :)
zoom, Maali, daFred: thanks for the links, ill check them out
dodke: well, it was for me, I did not know to any full extent how much
this possibility to recieve more data than i could process would affect the way i think about data/information overall
Rowley Birkin: tl;dr version: i think we need to change the way we sort information, the old ways are full of flaws
xernobyl: good quality, neatly packed and labelled and virusfree :)
numtek:there's passive and active ways of watching movies, and i belive any sort of
creative activity builds on some sort of input in the first place (myself being an active painter have thought about how this hangs together alot
kusma: sure as hell if i could i would, but time is a limiting factor

perhaps you can ask your teamleader to inform the company only to buy the movies you haven't already watched!

Love Rushmore. Wes Anderson is the best director in the last decade.

for those of you who still dont get it: the bandwith info is not that essential, it was to mark some sort of turningpoint where your machine can recieve more data than you as a user will ever have time to go through, thus leading you to take some sort of action to select what you want to see from the stream of information, heck im not that technically informed; maybe the limit is already at 10mbps or something

i just remember when i first started thinking about these things was when it was actually faster to download a movie than to go down to the corner of the same building where i lived and rent a movie.

Decipher: what did i do wrong?

i am starting to see the problem here, i have to confess. In many ways, this is like when we moved from floppies to ftp. In the beginning, everything was just floating about and good demos sometimes got less attention than they should have gotten..

I suggest a new thread for a fresh start to a discussion that clearly needs some serious thought. And perhaps we will see this turn into a some sort of open software-project, where demomakers collaborate and form new alliances and friendships to create a wonderful solution to all this chaos. What a nice way to step into the information age that would be.

okkie: this quote from Tove Janssons writings about the moomins might help you see my interest in watching as many movies as possible

Quote:
I've had about enough.' Emma declared. 'You know nothing about the theatre, not the least bit. Less than nothing, and that's that. A theatre is the most important sort of house in the world because that's where people are shown what they could be if they wanted, and what they'd like to be if they dared to and what they really are.' 'A reformatory,' said Moominmamma, astonished.
(Jansson 1971: 95).

WTF, if you don't have time to watch all the movies you can download, just pick them at random. Or better yet, favour obscure stuff over stuff everyone has seen already. Then write reviews about them.

Sure, a lot of that is going to be crap but if you're not willing to crawl through that to find some pearls you aren't much of a movie freak.

Same applies for demos too.

there is a misconception that im looking for some sort of automated function for sorting, im more interested in hearing your own approaches, i can relate to randomly browsing the obscure (Taxidermia, what an awesome movie that was!)

it goes without saying that youll have to get through some shit, i can live with that, but whats wrong with trying to refine ones search parameters? im not sure anymore if its me or the subject thats attracting all this hostility.

again im sorry if i did anything wrong, if someone could try explain to me what it is that im not getting right id greatly appreciate it
