What about Pouet Jingles?

category: general [glöplog]
They aren't usually private sessions.
Go to a party and start chatting with people, submit some decent entry and that should do it. If you socialice normally you'll probably get to know some people.
By pissing people off here and then going to party saying your soda some people cannot take you seriously. Just a hint.

Why not?

Because it's a normal way to act?

It would be a dull party (demo or whatever), if you'd know all the people beforehand.

zefyros: for "socialize" what you mean?
Talking about common things or also other stuff? Then I should train my english speak :)

soda: Well, like for example when you start to talk with someone you don't know, you'll probably first say who you are and ask something to get the conversation started etc. You don't start pissing of the organizers or visitors, you know, just behave normally and don't be arrogant - most people will talk with and so on.

gargaj: meaning what?

btw. this is very off topic

Soda, socialize, like.. socialize.
Like, when you get in school for the first year, dunno, you get new friends do you? Same. But for getting new friends, you have to act a bit like a normal person, which means, being polite, being everything but boring as you currently are in here. I mean, ACT NORMALLY instead of being in a rush of knowledge like you are now. Instead of wanting to know everything as fast as possible, take time to learn stuff, read, watch demos, learn from that.

Maybe I can know why parse43 was banned?

You can. Because he behaved like an asshole, insulting people and happily spamming the bbs. I like his logo though.

LCF / Barti / the_arachnoid may be geniuses, but probably also have some mental disorder. I haven't got it figured out yet... :)

he aint a troll, just young, unexperienced, enthousiastic and italian...
rarefluid: he transfered that kind of activities to bitfellas now.. sending out death threats when you say smth about it.
soda, bottom line is that it's nice and fluffy to know people beforehand, but not a necessity to get to know people. don't forget that everybody there has the same hobby, and there's this automatic idea about "everybody here is cool" going on, because everybody understands your hobby, unlike anyone outside the scene.

an easy way to get to it is to get in touch with some other italian sceners who are also going to whichever demoparty you're thinking about (i.e. buenzli). this way you also get to know a small amount of people before the language barrier kicks in. which i'm sure you'll find to be manageable - people are a lot more tolerant of nonperfect english in real life than on the internet.

Maali: yup, Daniel is regularly on Nectarine too and a pretty nice guy overall.

In my opinion, I think it's stupid to react like many of you have. Do I think the idea is a good one? No I don't, but there are better ways to say that than "fuck off".

Secondly, some comments to points which I massively disagree with:
-"don't open useless threads": This thread is probably more useful than all "random"-threads combined.
-"learn to write/talk English": There are many sceners who only speak a bit of English, or not at all. I prefer someone to contribute with bad english than not at all. Bitching about bad english is like saying your willy is bigger than his.
-"be productive": That's complete bullshit, in my opinion. Even unproductive people can and should propose their ideas. Are only those allowed to be part of the scene who produce something?

just my 2 cents...
