breakpoint 2008

category: general [glöplog]
the 60 euros are not that expensive. as h2o said, the party is great. the most expensive is the TRAVEL. once u spent Fuel (or train or plane) to come to the party, 60 is huge. it makes a 300/400 euros Week End with meals etc.. so it's expensive, yes. (for non-germans).

prices should be definite with germans/non germans.

honestly, where's the logic in that? a lot of our costs are simply constant and some are per visitor, but none depend on how far our visitors have to travel. we'll gladly help long-distance visitors get to the party (e.g. shuttle buses), but fundamentally, getting to the party is your problem.

That sounds rude said that way, but you're right.

There was a blonde girl looking at me outside. Damn I hate this house.

The sum of all the expenses is high, but that's what you pay for some of the best 4 days of your year, I guess. The only solution really is to make a winner demo ;)
Breakpoint should be sponsored by some cheap-o-airline.

To clarify: Breakpoint 2008 is going to take place at easter weekend, same location in Bingen am Rhein.

However: There is never a 100% guarantee until we've signed all the contracts (hall, sponsors) that a party actually will take place. That's how it always has been, and how it always will be.

We don't have any plans to change the location, the date or whatever, and this should be enough to start booking cheap flights. However keep in mind that until we've officially announced the party after signing contracts, there is always a (very small) risk that the party could get canceled and your flights would be worthless.

Regarding entrance fees: With an amount of >60% of long distance travelers, a long distance discount doesn't make any sense at all. This only works for parties with a tiny amount of LD visitors. It doesn't make sense to discuss the entrance fee right now neither, because as ryg has pointed out we've got exactly zero clue what the entrance fee will look like. It could be anything between 0 and 100 Euros. Entrance fee is (Costs+Compoprizes-Sponsormoney)/ExpectedNumberOfVisitors. If Sponsormoney is zero, the result of this formular is 100 Euros (no, and the Compoprizes part isn't really relevant in this formular). So let's just wait how many sponsor deals we are able to close. If you wish to try help us make the entrance fee as low as possible, try to invest some time in pointing it out to some companys that sponsoring the scene pays off. We'll be happy to provide supporting documents on that claim (iow provide sponsor brochures etc) - contact me if you wish to help out.

Actually we did more than contact - we looked into chartering an airplane and got quotes on it. Problem is: Cheapo airline ticket prizes only work because some seats are sold cheap, while a lot are sold expensive, and because the airplanes go exactly the same route with next to zero pauses all the time. Ordering an airplane even if fully booked would be 3-4 times the cheapo ticket costs. And if you simply do a deal with Ryanair to book a complete regular flight from them, ticket prices still will be extremely expensive - as you can't just book only the cheap ticket contingents.

Sadly not an option, and Cheap-o-Airlines don't sponsor neither - after all cutting on advertising/marketing costs if part of their concept.

evil: they just said they dont have a real clue yet.. go start work on the 4k instead of complaining about unknown entrance fee.

Just because Crest/AFY gave 1000 DEM to Mekka&Symposium as sponsorship does not mean 300 or 400 Euros for a weekend are considered cheap in Germany.
considering that (400eur) is the minimum wages in portugal and afaik some other countries it is even less, some would have to work a whole month Oo...
