madenmann: there's something like "wissenschaftliche transliteration", and tiamad was getting pretty close to it, so it's okay... =)

But still the logos, colors and typography suck donkeyballs... just look at other websites ffs and pick a nice color/style theme ;)
also margins seem to be jerky. for instance the graphics in the issues-pages dont seem to have a top-margin there.

xhtml validaton ... really ? let me doubt it with
I'm sorry to have to say that but web design is a job. If your graphist/designer has no (X)HTML/CSS skills ask somebody else to do the job. U__U
Code:
And the W3C validator says it's not even valid HTML 4.0.<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">

I see no visual glitches on my browser. This is better than the first posted web site, but still not there yet.
By the way, LoneStar would like to invite you to contribute more logos yourself. As you may have noticed, there are several logos and on each reload (or opening of a page) a new one is choosen by random.
The background can also be changed in the Settings.

Nor will the CSS pass validation. At least it's a learning experience for somebody ;) (And at least it's not a professional (or paid) gig. Man that would have been embarassing).
According to Changes between HTML 3.2 and HTML 4.0 (18 December 1997) : deprecated elements. The CENTER tag is officially deprecated since almost 7 years now. Still what is the first children of the BODY ?
LoneStar says it's now time for you to work!

reed says it's now time for lonestar to learn html!
adok: if you want a design and a CSS, you'll have to provide a standard compliant XHTML page. With no markup abberations.
lol @ reed :)))

after reading that, check it in action on www.csszengarden.com
for design issues, colorpicking: nick the colorscheme from a site you really like the colors of. Also make it coherent, thus site-gfx should be in the same colorscheme.
Zen Garden is an excellent example to also spot the power of various forms of typography. learn from it :)

alternatively, you could use this souped-up version of colormix.dk for color schemes.

colormatch, that is ;|
Let's clarify my remark about : "markup abberations".
By that I mean, to use the various tags for their real purpose, not for their default rendering style in this or that browser.
You'll certainly have to parse/reformat all the previous articles/news in your database, but that's the price to pay if you want to quit your father's web and get a nice, usable and accessible design.
So before that WE work, the web team of HUGI will have to make the effort to provide a correct basis of work. Because the actual markup, with all its meaningless tags/attributes, vanish all hope to design correctly your website.

i dont see why is there so much fuss about all this markup validation etc...
at least not as long as the OJ banner automatically invalidates the site...

I agree with all those I know and disagree with those I don't know!!!1
Gargaj: the fuss about markup validation is about forward compatibility, accessibility and respecting the foundations of HTML so that the work of the designers ( graphic creations and CSS ) is not ruined by the work of a lame HTML integrator.
And another side effect of complying to the WEB standards is to decrease the weigh of the bloated table based sites.

ruined = made impossible
not to mention historical records! If you don't comply, you may not be read in the future.
