We are currently making assessments on how likely it is that UC10 can run as planned.
From the legal standpoint we are cleared.
But various of our event business partners are sadly bankrupt, so there might be things we can not pull off this year, but we'll see.
But of course there is the big question if people actually already WANT to go to an outside demoparty to meet their friends, or if their minds right now still are in "survival-mode".
We've done some initial internal polling on that, and in a couple of days we'll do a public polling for potential visitors in regards of "Stick to the date in July" vs "Move to late summer" vs "Drop it for this year".
It's my core believe that an outdoor event like UC right now is the most safe and potentially the only realistic way on how to hold a demoparty. The lake, the sun and the fresh air might be the natural enemy of the typical scener, but it's clearly also the natural enemy of corona viruses.

True. As far as I can see an outdoor-style party has way less risk than an indoor one.

Well, that was expected. Over here the state air for event companies who suffer from the Corona-Virus situation was chaotic and virtually non-existant.
Big corporations, including those industries without a place in a future we should live in (Volkswagen, Lufthansa) , get a bail out, but for freelancers and small companies, like as it's typical for event- and culture-stuff, pretty much got nothing. The total aid a small company (with up to 15 employees) could get in most German states was 15k. Try to feed 15 employees with that for at the minimum 6 months without business income..

Regarding party features: Party tent, power, tables, people. That are the essentials, everything else is bonus :)

Many of us first of all need a place where we can see each other again, understood and agreed.
But UC is expected to have insane features, so to make it a UC, I must be able to get insane features.

scamp: Do you have a plan for when it happens to rain during the UC weekend? Because the prospect of potentially having nowhere to go but a crowded partytent or my own mini tent somewhere in the deep dark forests around Bingen is not a very enticing one, tbh.
The party-tent was oversized last year already, and we'll even more oversize it this year. This will feel a little bit awkward/empty, but it provides cover for exactly that problem. We'll make sure that even in case everybody has to take cover in the tent, that there will be ample social distancing.
Also, SHOULD it rain, we'll all dance outside together with the locals. We sadly have a major drought here.
...and with rain you´ll also get the additional marvellous Hüpfburg-foam experience!

We are looking for people willing to join the UC10 orga team. We are looking for compo orgas, people with electricity background, AV people, and general helpers and members of the inphoteam.
Being part of UC as a visitor is something every scener should have experienced so they know what the dark side of life is. Becoming an UC organizer is even more hardcore, and will guarantee to make your head explode. Which in these days probably is a good thing.
We also need to hear back from existing UC9 orgas - please sign in to our mattermost server and give us a sign of "life".
Let's see if together we can manage to create a (safe) place where finally us sceners can enjoy each other again in fucking REAL LIFE. Let's do it!

We've got all the relevant approvals, and also all essential suppliers are on board.
We are still considering some changes to eliminate the remaining minimal risk of Corona infections inside the party tent.

We've worked out a perfect Anti-corona plan that leaves most of UC's insanity, but transforms it into an environment that makes it the safest spot on earth for scener's to meet (and bath).
There won't be a classical main hall tent, but something that will be both more enjoyable and absolutely Corona-safe. It took us a while to come up with that invention, but it will rock.

Sounds absolutely amazing and I love this commons sense approach. However, what is the rational behind the face mask requirement? Based on what evidence is that even effective?
