I never met meaty personally, but his work for approximate as well as his cool quiz are strong contributions to our, sadly, dwindling community. I always enjoyed those two things greatly.
My condolences goes out to his family and friends, as well as to the Approximate guys who must feel like someone ripped their hearts out.

I met him a few times, last time at Revision - he was sitting next to me with his group, finishing Gaia Machina. He was a very friendly person, I can't believe he's not with us anymore :(

I spent a great time with Meaty, Velo & Cryptic at last Revision, he was (and will stay forever) a so nice guy!
We started to speak about how to integrate his great 64k softsynth into my next intro some days after Revision, he explained how it was so simple to code a softsynth (and I didn't understand anything! *derp*).
It's a terrible, terrible news, I can't realize it now...

Very, very sad news. I only got to know Meaty very recently by chatting on IRC but from the little I knew him, he was friendly, funny and helpful. RIP :(
