Where is okkie when you need him?

magic: okay, that's your opinion... and i respect that, whether i like your argument (ASD demo thumbed down - oh god!) or not.

maybe it is because i like clear statements or debatable results, but imho even the bp voting system should be more pouet-like. three choices work perfectly for me, because that's how i feel about a demo: either it was good, okay or bad.

magic: yeah, then please do and see why a voting system based on 1..10 votes fails as badly.

EOD.

Could we also have an option where you could select "Not as good as <name of production by same group with the most thumbs up on pouet>"?

In that way, it would be easier to let groups know when they're heading in the wrong direction.

Lando: thanx for your input though.. I dont thing any rating system ís 'waterproof' however the rating system of pouet could use a upgrade to more variations as written above..

magic: btw, do you really think that people voting lifeforce down will vote less "harmful" when given more options?
added on the 2007-08-05 16:04:22 by hcdlt hcdlt
Yes, i too am outraged by the rating system, as i wanted to give lifeforce 976.5273 points out of 1000 exactly, but have to choose thumbup instead :(

Seriously, whats the point ? I hope everybody can at least decide whether they like the prod, don't like it or is just average. Public votings on net _are_ inaccurate and unreliable by definition, 10point scale won't help it a little bit, quite the contrary.

Lugoober: when there is decited to change the curent rating system its always good to make a poll for pouet's users to ask them for input on the more variations in the rating system uh?

magic: what kind of drugs do you use?

Its impossible to change the voting system now after billions of votes have been given, keep it as it is, voting system rocks, its just the users that messes it up :)

hcdlt: i really dunno.. but in a wider and general perspective a more variad rating system WILL give a better and more reliable view
added on the 2007-08-05 16:06:40 by magic magic
I guess the input has pretty much been given. And seriously, why would the thumbs and piggies matter anyway?
added on the 2007-08-05 16:07:18 by Preacher Preacher
Quisten: I wont answer this question as it obviously doesnt has anything to do whatsoever on this topic really :)
added on the 2007-08-05 16:07:23 by magic magic
rating = currentrating / age.... because demos age too..

reliable in what way?
added on the 2007-08-05 16:07:34 by hcdlt hcdlt

I still believe that page hits should not count as much as they do now, otherwise the system can be exploited by public attention whoring. (Eg articles in online magazines)

Preacher: there's those people checking pouet, having never heard of the demoscene before, looking for the most thumb-upped prods of all time to get the picture...

Lando: good point! something that also needs to be looked at..
