Breakpoint 2007
category: general [glöplog]
someone quick write a plot for "1995 - the movie".. i think it should include hackers who use words such as "cyberspace", "black ice" and whatever was fashionably lifted off already 10 year old william gibson novels back then.
we all know that demoscene demos are what hackers see when they're trying to crack machines. :)
and of course it should have a happy ending, when kewlers bring back the only demo art from outer space!
and then kewlers die.
UWE LOLL
"I know this one, it's a Unix system!"
I don't understand WHY he's doing this seminar. Why is he flying in from the US just to chat a bit at a demoscene party? I don't get it. It costs him something to come over, but I don't see his benefit in this. Should be hilarious though. I definitely have to attend this seminar.
I agree that financing could probably be the most interesting aspect of his films. He has created around 10 funds to date for the production of movies, including 2 for the distribution. Investors pay around a minimum of 25'000 Euro to participate and then get a share of the earnings of each film. With the invested money, the production and the worldwide distribution is organized. If i'm informed correctly, the funds are between 5 and 20 million and one of the latest ones is expected to be up to 100 million. Personally speaking, I don't think they care much about the quality of each movie, because they know they are using established, well-known brands (Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead, Far Cry etc) which will generate sales fairly automatically, even more so on video/dvd than at the boxoffice. The whole financial side of his business is what would interest me the most personally. The question is how much he wants to reveal. Those of you who are interested can find out more on www.boll-kg.de (German) including some fund performance analysis etc...

Axel: Cause he gets in for free. And that's something. Even girls don't get in for free anymore. Not even if topless.
Axel: why? 'cos its fuckin BREAKPOINT and he doesnt wanna miss it :D
lol. riiiiight, that must be it.
i think he just does it to get a hold on latest buzzwords in TEH HACKERWORLD.. soon the (movie)hackers will use ambient occlusion to hide their IP in order to h4xx0r the pentagon for retrieving werkkzeug3 sources to pursue evil plans like world domination!
pentagon? pentahedron!
I want a seminar by Fabio. :(
Breakpoint people - make it happen!
Breakpoint people - make it happen!
Uwe Boll is a step closer to David Hasselhoff. Soon it will happen.
w00t! hotel reservation confirmations arrived!
Does he play pingpong?
why do girls don't get in for free anymore?
you CAN'T do this!
free girls, beer, and demos, that's what a party should be ;-)
no, seriously, does it really is such a great impact on the financial side, or why do you break up with this tradition?

v3nomsoup: 800-1000 visitors at breakpoint, 10% girls = ~80-100 girls, multiply by a 50 euro entry fee = 4000-5000 euros. does that sound like a considerable "impact"?
10% girls?
xenusion: he included the hermaphrodites and shemales in that percentage, but it's otherwise a good estimation :)
that's what i was told...

you know, it's not free girls in the "mobster in a whorehouse" kind of way.

Assuming a perfectly price inelastic demand would conclude irrationality if prices were not set infinitely high.
I.e. girls at Breakpoint would be the answer to everybody's money problems!!
10% girls?
