Uwe Boll
"Transforming games to movies"
Boll's first two major releases were the horror movie Blackwoods, and the drama Heart of America, both of which he directed and co-wrote. Boll also has a horror film Seed in production. However, Boll is most famous for adapting videogames into movies. He has directed and produced a number of such adaptations, among them House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, and BloodRayne. He has announced plans to produce adaptations of Dungeon Siege, Postal, and Far Cry. Boll also intends to produce a sequel to Alone in the Dark, and BloodRayne II: Deliverance, as well as a third movie based on the BloodRayne franchise.
(we don't have a summary yet)

So I assume, xeN, you'll be around JUST IN TIME this year, will you ;P ?
:D
I might expect Postal The Movie to be interesting. :)

Boulderdash, the movie.
Frogger ! would definitely be a killer
larry laffer the movie!
bravo hitchhikr ! ;-)
"Uwe Boll"?? But why? Will sidearms be allowed during his talk? How about melee-weapons? How about large amounts of feces to repay him for all that he has done for the advance of games in movies?
I suppose it's a joke. (though the sheer entertainment value of that guy shouldn't be underestimated :P)
poor lowtax :(
Yep, we are hoping for some entertainment value, too ;)
He's flying in from Hollywood just for the Breakpoint seminar. We don't pay him anything nor give any other benefits. That didn't leave many reasons to say "no" for us ;)
Anyway, might be fun, might work out, or possibly not. And well, in case his seminar sucks, there still are plenty of other things you can do.
hornet: "advance of games in movies"? Are you kidding? He's doing movie adaptions of first-person-shooters. If you care about someone messing up those brilliant game stories *cough* *cough*, something is wrong at your end ;)
It's not like he messed up Zak McKracken or something.

you guys must be kidding;-)
he can still recruit people at bp, which would probably be a good thing.
and i'd really fucking want to see zak mckracken being done as a movie, after all they had a short stint of doing maniac mansion-esque stuff in people under the stairs as well.

How about letting him adapt 1995 as a movie?
my thoughts:
1. he's despised and hated by a large portion of gamers... well hmm... doesn't that sound familiar to you? too bad he didn't start making movies and going to demoparties from, say, '98. like, when THE PARTY was still organized, where some random 14yo comes complaining that the compos are too distracting. i'm sure a lot of guys who were there wouldnt have minded to have uwe there to turn the kid into an unholy mixture of origami and wurst. in other words: might as well consider him an ally against a common enemy - he thinks gamers are loud and unproductive, just like the most of us.
2. from what I read on wikipedia (plausible source or not - the section in the article is completely unreferenced, but i'm bound to believe as long as someone from germany doesn't correct me), he seemed to have figured out a way where he can make movies almost for free, with complete financial backing from the german state. now considering BPs money problems, we might wanna sit down and listen. (i know that funding a party and making a movie are different subjects, but still... he's probably pretty well informed in the subject of acquiring bucks.)
3. here's a guy who basically mauled four of his most vocal critics in the ring - 90% people here on pouet who have their prod thumbed down some sophomoric self-proclaimed omnipotent lamer wouldnt even dare to DREAM of that, no matter how satisfying it would feel. and he just went out and did it - i personally think people should be lining up paying beers for the guy just for punching lowtax in the face (who had the audacity to keep performing that pretentious stuckup asshole gimmick even after his face was turned into currywurst - surprised that he took the bout seriously? try to read about boxing, surprise: it usually involves being punched.)
and hey! he might make a movie of 1995! that would be awesome!

knos: $*!)*!#% YOU AND YOUR 15 SECOND HEAD START :D
also makes me wonder how come we thought about the same demo :D
tee hee! if you made more efficient posts ;)
scamp - he fscked up "alone in the dark". That's hardly a first-person-shooter... and he's going to burn in hell for it (hopefully I'm going to die before him so I get to watch...)
