Revision 2014 - April 18th to 21st
category: parties [glöplog]
plot twist: the head of the laserteam is the only organizer without a laser-operator-certificate
Do not look into the laser with remaining eye?
The way this is going I'm going to leave al my explosives at home as well people, and we don't want to miss the big indoor firework show! I heard they were legal in Poland.
numtek:
Operating lasers is quite a thing in germany, because it's not only about that operating certificate. If you want to operate a laser somewhere, you first have to inform the "Ordnungsamt" about the installation and the operators and their qualification. If they give their OK, they will then most likely send someone from the TÜV to make sure everything is correct. This guy will cost you about 100-200 Euros and you are not allowed to change anything in the installation, your permission will expire otherwise.
As far as i know, this even counts for show laser installations at parties which do not have a laser class that operates within the classes you need a certificate for.
So even cheap show lasers in classes 1 or 2 need that in case you want to operate them on events.

To add:
If you are a university student, it's quite cheap to make a "Laserschutzbeauftragter" certificate here (and will cost you about 1 weekend). But that doesn't mean you are allowed to operate lasers in public or at events without any additional stuff, like the Ordnungsamt+TÜV thing.

@RbR: Thanks for the relevant info.
With that in mind I think I'll just bring it to a random dutch demoparty (!), that seems like a lot less hassle. I don't have 100-200EUR spare for this at the moment, besides still not having a certificate. But one does have to respect the laws of a hosting country ofcourse.
Once I have the time I'll dive more into this matter and I'll see to it that I get the proper clearance. Thanks!

We're ready. Are you? ARE YOU?!
Yay, they have envelopes as prizes this time \o/
They did that in previous years too though.
Filled with... DISAPPOINTMENT!

i WILL be ready!
There´s still one full month left PLUS the party-days themselves, ok until Deadline atleast!
But i am working on it right now and most of it is done, just needs assembling together plus pimpin/tweakin! :)
(just having a short pause right now, cant decide if to wank or not! ;) But i guess i have to, hormones are distracting me once again, haha!)
Be sure to put a lot of money and Graphics-Cards into those envelopes! ;)

the two-slot GeForce cards will come in the envelopes. For the money prizes we'll use bigger boxes.
two-slot-cards...better put a fitting Motherboard into the envelopes aswell, then! ;) Oh, wait, the big boxes will have lots of money, so one can buy a mobo from it! :D

Heh, apparently I'll potentially be passing by a few darklite guys. I get in at 8:40am via Lufthansa, but then I get to spend time bumbling around and making my way to the trains. We may all end up on the same train if that's how they're getting to town. I'm hoping to catch the first one that goes direct to reduce chance of me getting lost in Europe. :)
Don´t worry, you cant get lost in Germany! It´s so small, everything is in a days walking_distance! HAHA!
I can imagine worse places to get lost in.
Last year I managed to not get lost making a connection from the airport in Luxembourg to the train station where I caught a bus in to town. I got all the times right on the way back out and made my flight with plenty of time.
(The hop from Amsterdam to Luxembourg was also so short US airlines wouldn't even bother with a snack but KLM served Stroopwafels.)
This year has a lot less hops in total (one flight + one train trip) than last year, intentionally. :)

to their train station* (I presume if I went "around" I could have caught a train to another place then in to Saarbrücken, but the bus was rather cheap and possibly faster. I'm also somewhat certain I wasn't the only scener on that bus, but I wouldn't have known anyone to strike up a conversation.)
Better forget about the envelopes full of graphics-cards and all the big boxes full of money, i wont make it to Revision as it seems! So the real winner will release at tUM first, hold it all back! ;)
In other words: i need a ride back from Revision to Cologne on Monday. Can pay in Envelopes full of Graphics-Cards, once won the compo! ;)
(Me already applied to the Rides-Page at the official Revision-Site, so if you can help me out, please get additional info like email from here! Thanks for listening!)
