I think a lot of what you consider to be "quality control" would be easily solved by having more than one channel per station. Maybe someone likes listening more to ambient backgroud music from games while someone else prefers the UNTZ? If di.fm had only one channel, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work. Maybe the approach of more diverse channels on a single station (where a tune could be part of several channels, of course) is the future of demoscene radio?

Also, don't forget about Mod FM radio, which is all about tracked music.

The downside with this solution is that for many listeners (especially those who like to communicate with other listeners on webchat or IRC of the radio in question) the shared experience in listening is highly important.

It seems that SceneSat favors more newschool and Nectarine and Bitjam oldschool and I think this division is pretty good, giving some alternatives for listeners. But some database management (an issue which is especially pressing for SceneSat) would help to increase the coherency and the quality of stream.

(by "newschool" I meant like streaming music, recent eletronica genres and perhaps vocal music while Nectarine users in turn favor chiptune, old machines and melodic genres)
