scene music stolen

category: music [glöplog]
That seems like the Timbaland-case all over again.

According to the song's credits it was written by Plastilina Mosh and Thomas Troelsen (who has written songs for Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, Pitbull, David Guetta etc) and produced by Tom Rothrock (Beck, Foo Fighters, Moby, James Blunt etc).
Turns out that adding shitty rapping and modern production on top of a SID track doesn't make it any better.

The following song somehow reminds me very strong to the beginning of the Chaos Theory Demo.

Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQsHZ0eyPl8
Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfuierUvx1A

But there are some genuine elements inside this song too, so I don't know if it falls into this category.

I absolutely don't hear the similarity, but then I'm biased :)

Disclaimer: Not a call for infringement but just something I came across recently. I don't know the (Spanish) company and its relationships with the scene (if any) or business connections, so it might all be perfectly legal use, but still an interesting observation nonetheless ..

The game Youtubers Life from U-Play Online is using various music tracks from the Demoscene. It becomes apparent the moment you set your player character to be a musician and then buy tracks in the virtual store within the game, which is basically an imaginary online store with fake title names.

One of the scene tracks used is "JustForBlues.mod" by Juha Kujanpaa, from Finland, which can also be found on modarchive.com .

There are many more guitar-heavy tracker modules to be found in the game but I couldn't name them on top of my head. I could not find Juha's name in the game credits so I got suspicious ;)

On second thought, I get the feeling that I may have been seeing a hacked up version of the game rather than the real deal that is being sold on Steam. None of the YT gameplay videos show any scene related footage. No idea really. *shrugs*

this album basically stole some tracked modules and claimed it as their own.
so far only one module has been found:
"To the End of the World" is actually DJ eCera - Alkarinques Haran (CER-ALKA.IT)
The YT links are unavailable here but it seems to be on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/324ml8THJMwN4kCAIoOEsM

What exactly is the situation when the audio from a demo is played on commercial radio ? Does the station playing said tunes need to get in touch with Netpoet to agree terms or what ? TBH the BBC and some other independent stations have been known to play demoscene releases before, but bearing in mind this is not Scenesat, so not entirely sure how to play this ....

There is an android game called Infinitode 2. Its a free game with in-game purchases and its ost consists entirely of demoscene music. Im not exactly sure that developers dont have a license, but it is most likely that they dont.
Tracks I found so far:
Zalza - Cherish
Ghidorah - A piece for freedom
Seablue - Aurora Dawn
Mystic Cloud (Kim Silen) - Simpukka chilli
4mat - Blank Page
BrD
Quazar - Hybrid Song
Zalza - Tekilla Groove
CORE - Mr. Spock's cryo-bed
Tiger Mission
Chromag - Shock Therapy
Maktone - Class Cracktro #15
rts - Ghost
Radix - Dragon Atlas
Mem'o'Ree - Scissors Mix
Sleepy Sunflower
There is more. Looks like full ost can be found here
