Or patches to Visual Studio to cross-compile for WindowsCE on SH3/SH4 architecture?
or atleast any other plain text editor that can bear Unicode UTF8 in reasonable way?

will try it later --> need to digg up the RS cable, as the istaller gruns from PC not from flash card:)
on the other hand, I see, that older versions of VS (7 and 8) had support for this platform.
